there are some other options on amazon as well, but I think this one uses the stock bulb. the others use an LED bulb so one side of the license plate would look different from the other.
I'm sure you can run the wires yourself. the hard part is the connections, but it sounds like you got that.
Looks like Crutchfield and Crux confirmed that it might be Cayman-specific

Reason: added quote
Can you describe exactly where the passage is that goes into the cabin from the trunk?
TIA,

Hey man,
Not sure whether it'll be the same for the Cayman, but try this: Take the rear right side tail light out from inside the car. Look toward the license plate and see if there's an opening there. You can pull the video lead up through there, then through the taillight opening into the cabin. From there, route under the carpets/panels as you see appropriate.
In the Boxster, there's a gap in the panel that divides the trunk on the passenger side. You can find it in the roof storage well, but you'll probably want to put the roof into service position and get the rear window all pulled up and out of the way. That gap leads back into the trunk space. I put the cable around the right side of the coolant/oil filler, then pulled it into the well through the gap. Then through another similar gap behind the passenger seat and into the cabin proper. Fish your coat hanger through from the well side, if you're doing this in a Boxster.
You can see in the first photo how the camera lead comes up from behind the license plate and into the tail light space, then, you just pull it through and into the trunk.
Easy peasy. Stick a coat hanger down from the tail light space until you see it in the hole in the bumper, then blue tape your lead and pull it up and through.
I hope that's helpful. The camera's really helpful. I have mine set up so that when the reverse lights come on, it powers up and interrupts the display, lowers the stereo. I could have wired it up to be on all the time, but didn't really see much point in it, at least for me.
Replaced my stock steering wheel with a Sport wheel purchased locally. It was an easy change, it took me about twenty minutes start to finish to do the swap.
Since I do track days, I'm looking forward to using the more user-friendly paddles that the Sport wheel has.
I have not yet gone to the dealer to have the ECU coded to enable the "Sport" and "Sport Plus" lights on the wheel. Not sure if I'll go to the trouble and expense of doing that.
Tried a new wax and impressed. Chemical Guys Butter wax. Expensive. Really does shine. What type of wax are you using?
I've been using Griots Best of Show - provides a deep luster on the black paint. The only downside is it is not particularly durable. My car is hibernating until the weather turns in late March, but I'll probably switch over to a ceramic coating when she wakes up (not sure if I'll do it myself or take it to a detailer).

try the McGuire’s black wax… it’s really good stuff. 18.00-ish on eBay… I’d say about 20-25 applications on this tube. Doesn’t seem to attract dust like others I’ve used. Normally black or dark like mine is a dust magnetic but this seems way less
Not sure why but my photos look blurry on this site

I haven't done my car yet, but a friend has gotten into detailing and he uses Wolfgang products. I have read various blogs and articles and they recommend Wolfgang as well. I got some of this and plan to visit my friend to use his tools and expertise in the spring... but I wanted to mention this brand...
Heater flap fix along with bonus cleanup under the cowl area while I was in there. no foam left...no wonder I wasn't getting barely any heat... that should work
