Nice deal indeed! I picked up my 09 Boxster 4 months ago, not an S but oh my, just driving it around puts me on a higher plane of existence. Aqua blue metallic/gray, gets compliments all the time. I also had been looking for a year, finally able to grab this one for just under $24K but got ripped by a local Indy who got $1K for changing the coolant and brake fluid, so say a bit over $25K. Don't care, put snow tires on her just so I can take it out in cold weather or a couple inches of snow.
No pics, but my good friend and Porsche genius Rick (997.1, 914, 356 FiberFab replica, 944, 987.2 that was wrecked) and I went to lunch so he could again have the joy of driving a 987.2. He pushes it far harder than I do - far harder - but he's such a good driver I enjoy his driving as much as he does, And yes, it was in Sport mode to tighten up the suspension. After he and his wife drove mine several years ago, they got one just like mine only not an S......Meteor Grey '11. It was tragically totalled in an accident over a year ago.
We had a great ride in the twisties where I live and I never cease to be amazed at how this car handles when pushed. No, we never approached its limits, but got close enough to again appreciate how incredible this car is.
Why I haven't replaced it in the 10 years I've owned it, and never will. Have 95k miles on it - I drive it. A lot.
Scootr,
I agree with the amount of color they use. It was a bit much for me when I got it, but have gradually been changing the interior a bit. I put in the black floor mats and with this change, I think I am good for a bit. (Until next month at least!)
Just really loving this new shifter right now. Completely different experience. Just have to take it a bit easy right now since it was 14 degrees here yesterday and the tires don't like it that cold!
Bought Sony XAV-AX3200 for my Cayman S plus everything I need to install it using original Bose amp & speakers - didn't want to cut wires. With mic & backup cam, will be under $500 with my doing the install.
Been wanting to do this since I had my '08 Cayman base when the complete install for same was almost $3k - and that's why it never happened.......

Would be interested in your thoughts on the install after you complete. Keep toying with the idea of replacing mine and adding a backup cam. Ideally, I'd like to do it myself if the frustration factor is not high.
While I'm a pretty good wrench with over 60 years experience, and my forte is electrical as I'm an EE who got into computers in 1979, running the wire for the backup cam may be something I farm out to the pros. Like idea of wireless backup cam but concerned about delay times. Doing research now.

I put an Atoto A6 head unit in my Boxster and added their BU cam at the same time. There’s a passage into the cabin from the trunk and a handy hole behind the license plate already there. Take the right rear tail light out and you can fish the cable through with a coat hanger. I tapped the reverse light to get power and used a bolt in the trunk as the ground.
The 101 Projects book was helpful.
Not a single bit of drilling or poking holes in grommets was required.
Now this is the best news I've read so far on the install. I really want a wired cam vs. wireless, but dreaded punching through my sweet Cayman body.
Any chance you have some pics?
Will go snooping when it warms up.....

Can you describe exactly where the passage is that goes into the cabin from the trunk?
TIA,

there are some other options on amazon as well, but I think this one uses the stock bulb. the others use an LED bulb so one side of the license plate would look different from the other.
I'm sure you can run the wires yourself. the hard part is the connections, but it sounds like you got that.
