Sadly I've still in the process of trying to speak to their warranty rep Ted at Fabspeed. He has been on vacation until today and now he is on lunch.

Ekam,

Our customer service director, Ted, has been on a much-needed vacation and returned today.

You contacted us at noon regarding your warrantied repair, we asked you to follow our claim process so that we can tend to it ASAP. Per our confirmation response to your email, you need to allow Ted 24-48 hours to investigate, create and process your repair request. You have since called 5+ times and spoken to numerous other departments, who have all reiterated the exact same thing. Please be patient, Allow 24-48 hours. Ted, personally handles all requests.

As a follow up to the above linked post where I replaced my driver's side door trim - last Sunday, I replaced my corresponding passenger's side trim.

https://rennlist.com/forums/987-foru...l#post17728807

Project notes
All of those mentioned above, with one extra discovery - when I buttoned everything up, I discovered that my right side door pull was lower than it should have been, preventing it from closing unaided. This is because I didn't pay enough attention to aligning the latch assembly when I reattached it to the inner door panel. There are three screws that hold it on and there's a fair amount of left/right, up/down adjustability built in.

I need to pull the inner panel off again, so I can re-align the latch assembly. For other's attempting this project, I'd suggest that you pay more attention than I did to where the screws had originally been secured to the inside of the door panel (use a sharpie to mark their locations?) or - as I will do very soon - loosen the screws for the latch assembly, re-attach the handle, and use its position to determine where it should go before re-tightening the screws.

Compare and contrast

New car smell and a slightly mis-aligned door pull.

  • Treated the fabric top with RaggTopp.
  • Swapped out summer for winter tires. Saw first snow here this week…
  • Drained and changed transaxle fluid (Porsche fluid). Was doable on my creeper, but I’d raise the jack stands another 5” to do it next time. Old fluid looked great, BTW.

Gotta move a lot of stuff to get at the drain plug…

took my '07 987 out for a spin yesterday, and darned if my thought-it-was-fixed-above-the-glove-box-rattle is back again.. this time i'll be trying to remove the whole glove box and see where the heck that loose-small-bolt-rattling-in-a-plastic-tray sound is actually coming from. also had to throw a few pounds of pressure in the rear tires to satisfy the "wish i could disable it" TPMS.

Last day on the road, until next Spring. Fueled up - with stabilizer - and into the garage for an oil change. I built some wheel stands, for a solid lift while doing the oil change. Worked great!! Hoping to get a set of quickjacks for next Spring.

I also built some wheel cradles, to help prevent flat spots. She'll be sitting a while - even with max air pressure. And this option cost me nothing.
All cleaned, inside and out. Just waiting on a car cover....then counting the seconds until next April/May!!

Seeing all these cars wrapped up for winter makes me feel really glad I'm in Florida! It's finally cooling off here and these are some of the best months for motoring.

I never was a fan of the snow and cold, here in Canadark. But since getting my Cayman...that's HIGHLY amplified!!
I dream of living somewhere like Arizona, or Oregon, for the long nasty winter months. But that's likely a few years away yet..

Western Oregon is good. While I don't have a Cayman (yet), I can and do drive my '72 911T year-round. No real off-season here, as long as you aren't afraid of a little rain. Working A/C is a bit of a plus for the occasional hot spell, as well. (And yes, my 911 has good A/C. It is possible, despite the conventional wisdom that pooh-poohs it.)

Hung out with a buddy in Central Oregon a few years back. That place was amazing!
We had an incredible Fall here - but we're now getting pelted with freezing rain and snow. And the road workers have already coated everything in sand and rocks here. Which does not mix well with nicer vehicles!!
