Beautiful day here in north-central Virginia. Took my favorite circuit, from Culpeper, VA to Sperryville, VA via Route 522, then Route 231, FT Valley Road down to Etlan, VA along the front range of Shenandoah National Park and Old Rag Mountain, then a left on Hebron Church Road to Hebron Valley Road and back to Culpeper, VA. An amazing day and awe inspiring scenery in an amazing automobile. If ever you are in this part of the world, let me know and I'd be happy to play tour-guide.

75 degrees and spring has sprung in north-central VA with the Bradford Pears starting their white bloom. Today, I decided to go deeper into the hollows of the Shenandoah National Park...or "Hollar" per the local vernacular...Google "The displaced people of the Shenandoah Natl. Park"...very interesting lore. Went as deep as I could to the White Oak Canyon trail head. Stopped along and took photos. The first one is at the same spot from the other day...but with a pear in the background.

^^^ That is a really cool photo! I love me some Americana roadside attractions like that. I took some time off from doing work and just sat in my Spyder and familiarized myself with the different functions and displays, and added some POIs to the navigation. I just picked the car up a few weeks back and didn't really get much chance to fiddle with the electronic doo dads. I was so focused on outrunning the corona pandemic on my road trip and making it home in one piece. Today, I also removed the rear top piece and cleaned the clear plastic window. And I practiced my technique for getting in and out of the carbon buckets. I think I have it down pat, with minimal side bolster contact! Also, having lost about 13 pounds in stress since this pandemic started, I now fit much better in the buckets. lol

Installed a pair of radiator grill screens from radiatorgrillstore.com. It took some fiddling around with the positioning, and there's still a bit of a gap at the top, but it's got to be better than having those huge openings with regard to keeping junk out of the radiators! Maybe the weather will cooperate for a "social distancing drive" later this week...

yes - in Winston-Salem. Not that close to RJR itself now but same town. This old shell station is about a mile off US52 N by the I-40 exchange. We like it here too!

Unfortunately SOLD my 987.1 Cayman S. I decided to downsize and get a car that would be cheaper overall as I do plan on hitting the track more often and I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on consumables and upgrades. I ended up with a '99 Miata, which surprisingly reminds me a lot of the Cayman in terms of handling, steering feedback, and brakes. The buyer is waiting a few weeks for the COVID chaos to calm down before picking it up, so fortunately I still have some time to enjoy it.
Since the car is waiting to be picked up, I have a brand new set of 4x StopTech steel-braided brake lines that I was planning on putting in, but I won't be needing them anymore. If anyone is interested in buying them, feel free to reach out.
