If you are only paying $186k you don’t need to see any paint thickness readings or panel vin stickers.

A WTL with 9k miles sold for $165k a couple months ago and people nit picked the paint readings like crazy.

Regarding the silver WTL. Being a 94 it shows all the original vin stickers these are only present on 89 and 94 964's. The rear bumper still retains it with its other panels which is quite rare to see. Gaps and all tell tale areas appear to be original. The car shows well with little reason to question originality and comes with its original wheels. There are adequate pictures to see key areas where any paint work might have been tapped or blended so I am not so sure paint meter readings will make any difference. The only area of concern would be the front hood and bumper which is exceptionally clean although that could be from having clear film on the hood or a driver that doesn't tailgate. I am not sure if the front hood was painted if it would have deterred the bidders. If it was painted it was a quality job. I don't know which WTL you are referring to that sold for $165k but if you can post a link I might be able to see why. Also color makes a huge difference with these regarding price and each month we seem to hit new record selling prices.

I do find it surprising that these are selling for more than some of the 3.3l Turbos. The turbo is a superior car all around and IMO should command more $$ but that is just my opinion.

Here is the 9k mile WTL. You will remember it when you see it.

I agree the silver car looked clean but you have a keener eye than most and I was just surprised that no one even asked about paint except for how shiny it was. The silver car was shipped to the Middle East and back and who knows what happened in transit. Other cars with less reason to question paint originality (ie 9k miles) paint becomes a big deal. Just interesting how each auction is different.

On WTL vs turbo prices. Speaking only for myself I liked the look without the fixed wing and the Sound of the NA motor so never considered a turbo. I also had a C2 in the past a lost the rear end a couple of times so the C4 was appealing and a C2 turbo was likely not the right car for me.

I do recall this car and it clearly had paintwork. It also sold in February. The market was very different back then and has been on an insane trajectory lately with people paying crazy money for any 964. The orange peel is off to my eye but would need to look at the car in person. Although the tell tail areas I look at would have me suspecting this car has more miles than indicated and has more paintwork than the meter is telling. I believe I stated that earlier in this thread.

You will never see this with factory original paint. There is drip marks from the clear and peel where it rarely is.

I don't have an identical picture or lighting but my original paint 94 turbo is smooth as glass and I have looked at several all original paint cars over the years albeit unicorns and they look like my car and not this one. ^^

AWD vs C2 is a personal preference. I am a die hard RWD lover. I do agree the feel of the N/A vs turbo cars is very different and the sound is amazing through the N/A with a proper exhaust while the turbo's sound is only fun when on full boost or when lifting.

I passed on a 27k mile Wimbledon green C4WTL back in 17 IIRC at $72k. IMO it was all the money back then but I would have just removed the AWD system and converted it to a C2 which would have been a shame to do so I passed. I nearly bought a white 94 WTL about the same time with a protomotive turbo kit. Nice car but had many needs and I passed at $20k just because I didn't like the AWD. Yet I have good friends who will only drive C4's so whatever floats your boat as they say.

This was insane. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...e-964-turbo-3/

I doubt the miles weren't tampered with and the seller had to know of the damage. If this was sold by RPM I know it had no prior accident damage as he won't touch damaged cars irrespective of miles.

This car had a re-skin of the drivers door and that is not how you repair a broken door strap. I can't imagine the cost to fix the shoddy work and that to me kills the value.

Yes. I had a momentary laps of reason and floated out there as a possible seller. The BAT money on the other blinded me. Mine is not for sale as they are not replaceable without writing larger checks later.

Looks clean and original although it has the intensive washer option and nothing noted anyplace about it. It also says mostly original paint see meter readings below, but no readings. A bit steep for mostly original paint irrespective of miles.

I felt like I missed the boat and overpaid when I bought in 2015. Had my eye on the market since 2010 but wasn't in a position to buy prior. These days, I'm feeling pretty good about the purchase!
