I don't know if he's necessarily hiding anything but maybe was just uninformed about body/paint work etc.. Since it's BAT it will probably hit reserve and sell over market. That being said the car looks to have some stories for sure. Thanks for your insight Colbat. I learn something new every week on these boards.
I originally though the same thing. He clearly didn't know about the tab being a giveaway. I have met more than my share of sellers/flippers (?) like this and I can go on for pages but isn't worth it. He knows exactly what he has and is selling it as something it isn't hiding behind ignorance and a clean carfax LOL. We all know what that is worth. Some say buy the seller he appears to be a pro that knows what he is doing. The video was the clincher and he avoided the key areas of concern. Too many clueless yahoo's on BaT all speaking out their behind saying what a great example.
I especially like his contradicting comments.
IT WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT, It has a damage report form almost 12 years ago, I am thinking it was the deck lid but IDK, it happened under the first owner, it had one owner for around 18 years, 2nd for 11 years and me for 6 months. I don’t do carfax or a ppi when he buy because I know what I’m looking at and have been a car nut and collector for 30 years from porsches to racing my hot rod at the race of gentlemen. I like chasing down special cars, driving them and then I get an inch for something else, however this I time I’m selling the car to make a move cross country and hoping this will lighten the load, thank you again
Everyone I know who was interested has since moved on and unless you can pick this up cheap expect to be spending some serious coin in years to come. Quite the shame a little transparency and this car could have sold for fair money. I am assuming RNM at this point.
BTW someone has the handle cobalt on BaT and it isn't me so if you read his/hers comments you know it isn't me.
PS: I find it interesting that not even a mile was recorded from May until August yet has receipts from Kane's under two owners. ????
What's approximate market value of a teens-mile 964 Targa, assuming no issues and well maintained?
That’s a tough one because there are so few Targa’s available that are in decent shape. Are you’re referring to the red one at RPM? I believe it could be had in the mid to high 90’s from some that have inquired.
Majority the Targa’s seem to sell in the low $50’s for cars that need a decent amount of work (mechanical and cosmetic) and some of the nicer ones are selling in the high 60’s. Not much out ther with less than 50k miles and even some of those cars have questionable mileage and history.
i don’t know but if you know of one, pass the lead to @JAB12 - as he’s been looking for a while.
Thanks. I am aware of his interest and had it in mind when I first learned of the possibility. The car is not on the market yet (and it's not RPM's and, I believe, it's a better color combo than that one, too).
meow - can’t believe I flew to Lauderdale to buy that. Glad I backed out. Exterior flawless?? I think he's just playing the game of putting a REALLY high price on it, hoping someone offers him less (but more than he was asking previously). FYI - we agreed on and I had a check for $47k with me.
The car is actually "ok" - JAB12 was even kind enough to go by and check it out for me! -but the seller freaked me out a bit and I realized that he was only fixing what absolutely needed to be fixed to move the car.

I had inquired about that car too before getting mine. Seller gave me a bad feeling and didn't pursue it further. When I bought my car, I bought the seller and other people that knew the car. Makes you feel so much more comfortable buying the seller. I was even in Fort Lauderdale for vacation and didn't bother to go look at it. Looks like the suspension was finally lowered too, I remember it looking like a 4x4 in previous listing.
"was finally lowered too, I remember it looking like a 4x4 in previous listing"
Well, it IS a 4x4 !
Luckily, not everyone wants a trailor queen and this should sell to a buyer who wants to put another 100,000 kms on it!
It's not a case of people just wanting a nicer car, it's that the seller is SHADY. I based this first on a general feeling - but I just want to show you guys something....=left
=left I researched this car HARD and found the previous owner AND the company that imported it from Japan. I also dug up a bunch of pictures. One of these pictures shows over 170k kms. The person selling this car said that HE converted the odometer to MPH, himself but claimed the other one says 135k kms or something. I told him and sent him the pictures of the car before he owned it showing 174k and he ignored it and continues to claim less mileage. Not sure what you call it but I call it shady.
PS - like I said, the car is interesting for the sunroof delete, the color and the interior - but it does need some TLC and based on the sellers behavior, I'd worry about what "was" done to the car. He also will insist that the wheels are OEM - even after I show him the PPI that I payed for, states that they are not (you can tell, anyway)…
