If it is SVD, then maybe the numbers don't match or some other underlying issue that prevents them from putting the car through the conversion process.
All the same things went through my head also. Something is fishy, and it starts with the NC plates. If he has put 1000 miles on it in the last 8 months, shouldn't it have Cali plates? If car is as described, he's leaving $10k-$15k on the table........and anyone working at Singer or any other well known shop would know that.

If someone is seriously interested in the car, send me a PM and I could reach out to contacts at SVD to find out what the deal is.

so he's been driving the car for 8 months 1000 miles on the previous owners plates?
how is that possible? and what seller would allow someone to take their car with the plates and continue driving it still registered to them for 8 months?

So much conjecture here...

Sales tax rate in NC is 3%, plates are less expensive compared to California registration and sales tax rate which can be up to 10% based on county/city.
The likely explanation is the seller has family in NC and registered the car as such to save some money. Seller seems pretty straightforward and believable.

If you are a buyer, you likely have already worked out a deal on a car based on the advertised description looks like a bargain in todays market. If I wanted another black coupe, this one would be mine already.

Madonna santa, cazzo, you guys like a lot games of thrones and all these conjecture themed TV shows huh?!?

I think the valve covers are leaking because it's a NC car and once I saw a NC car for sale and it had a leak.

He probably bought it and drove the hell out of it without warming the car properly because SVD was going to remove the engine anyways so the engine is blown.

He is a drug dealer and drove it flatout from NC to CA, breaking the transmission while doing it; now he has to get rid of the car quickly. Still has some weed in the stereo speakers.

He owns a meat grinder shop but could not find meat in the car. Lost interest.

[...]

I am going to call the seller and ask him to raise the price $15k so we all feel better

Apparently the car is sold - FYI, my SVD contact confirmed the car was "saved" by a coworker and that the car was clean, so it looks like someone got a steal!

if u r a wholesale dealer, u don't need to re-register the car as it is considered "inventory"....basically you can drive with the dealer plates...

What's going on with RSA prices? I've noticed some listings for RSAs at 60-75% of what I would expect based on what folks were asking for them not long ago.

I have noticed this too. However, the C2 manual Coupe market still looks hot.

RSA market was unrealistically inflated like the 94 turbo market. Only the pristine low mileage all original cars are bringing strong money and the rest are settling out recognizing that a well sorted C2 is no less a car for a lot less $$.
