Great AMERICAN 964s for sale

Just a thought..every time I see a 964 that is not outrageously expensive I always figure its a tiptronic. I am always right. I was wondering why more people are not converting those tips out there to manual, and I guess I have my answer on eBay. 10K for a G 50 tranny is why. L.A. Dismantlers is selling all you need to do the conversion minus the speedo for 11 or 12k bucks. Yikes. I did see a speedster for sale recently with the conversion done, and in a car that expensive it makes sense, and can always keep the parts and put it back to original. I almost did a conversion when I had a wrecked car and was only finding rollers that were Tips. I waited and was rewarded with a super cheap new paint, orig 5 speed car the motor and tranny now resides in.

I read somewhere that because of the recent increase in value of our cars, Porsche has increased the price of reproduction parts. That is why they are planning (so far two in the US) Porsche Classic dealers. As a result, this increase in part value has increased the value of oem and used genuine parts.

However, this 5spd C4 with no reserve could possibly be an exception...

I thought the change was due to requirement in US in 94? But my 89 G series DOES have the stickers on every door/hood/hatch. So maybe a hold out? My 91 does not have them.

I don't believe I have ever seen an 89 with them and since yours does not I am assuming it wasn't an actual thing back then despite the 89 speedster. When I see things that don't belong but were added I get more suspicious than if something is missing. What are they trying to cover up?
Can anyone else confirm having vin stickers on their 89 in the door jams or any other location? If they had it on the door jams why isn't he posting pics of the other locations.
My 93 and my 90 do not have them my 94 does.

having seen/driven the car, i can tell you that all the stickers match, even the ones inside the front fenders at the rear. why they're there, i can't say. i can say that they were consistent. considering the condition of the paint and various dents and dings, this would not appear to be a cobbled together car/shiny turd in any way.

Would be interesting to know if anyone else has them on an 89. Always trying to learn more about all the nuances of these cars.

I'm surprised this one is still available unless there is a history about it I'm ignorant of. Perhaps it has some rust issues being masked from all its time in Indiana? Have any of our Cali members taken a look at it?

for the record, i'm in no way attempting to defend/validate this car. since i've seen it in person, i thought i'd mention that the numbers at least matched and they were consistent around the car. situation is certainly odd. if it had a quality respray, it was some time ago.
