Firstly, tried the removal method quickly on one strut, worked like a charm!

Secondly, where was the hex collar? Where my 8mm adjustment screw is?

Awesome! I love that method. Just so quick and painless unlike a lot of other suspension work.

hex collar for me was just below the adjustment ****. My ***** screw on and off so it made access straightforward.

Thanks!

Safe to say from my photo I don't have that luxury or am I overlooking/misunderstanding?

I have a silly quesiton. How do we adjust the button that attaches to the rear view mirror? My mirror shakes on bumpy roads. With a little fiddling it stops but the mirror is not aligned. After 3+yrs of owning the car it's become a nuisance. Advice is greatly appreciated.

Is there a recommended change interval for power steering fluid? According to records I got when I bought the car the pump was replaced ten years and 20,000 miles ago. The P/S works well, is quiet, and doesn’t leak.

Does your mirror easily slide right on and is easy to remove? Then the tabs on the window bracket are bent out or the metal strip that slides onto the window bracket are worn. This normally is a very tight fit usually taking lots of effort to install. I installed my mirror on a new factory windshield yesterday and it was quite tough to do. A lot of lube and careful hammering using a plastic stick and plastic blow hammer. You can carefully try to bend those tabs in and try again. Be very careful as you can easily break the windshield. Hard to say but that doesn't look like an OE windshield which might have something to do with the issue. The OE's have a black dot the bracket is glued to the aftermarket usually just have the silver part exposed from the outside.

Awhile back I had to decide on a new rear view mirror since mine had aged. I decided to upgrade to a newer VW/Porsche mount and replace with the Porsche 993 auto dimming mirror (993-731-982-00)since I have a hard time driving at night. Maybe something to consider if removing.

Thank you for the reply Anthony

The mirror slides in easily but removing does take some slight effort. I will try and bend the tabs inward and see how it goes. Is the mirror supposed to snap in place? I feel like it's not sitting flush with the button hence the wobbling.

Regarding the windshield I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't OE (I don't see the Sekurit marking) and the black dot is missing. I purchased a driver (man, did i ever get one...haha) and the surprises and sheer wonder of what the previous shops/owner were thinking is mind blowing. When I got the car it did not have an oem mirror but some homelink mirror. So I replaced that along with the mirror button.

As you've had the pump and oil replaced in its relatively recent life (and the pump shows no signs of leaking) I would leave it for now if all is quiet and the state of the fluid looks fine (not cavitating or nearly black in colour etc). As I had no prev history of mine ever being flushed I went ahead anyway and flushed it through replacing the whole system with new fluid. The old fluid was very very dark in colour to start with before the new fluid showed up. Plenty of info and how to here if you want to do yourself later.

Can anyone share how the dip stick is secured to the inside of their bay? Mine has the P clamp over the threaded stud, but no securing nut. The usual 10mm plastic nut doesn't fit, and the PET shows an odd combination of a plastic wing nut and a screw?

On my car MY91 C2 coupe it held on by a screw

screw hold mine is like the screw on the right The two plastic nuts are the 2 different 10mm nuts used elsewhere

You can see the screw head right above the dip stick

Interesting... mine has a stud welded to the body, much like what the plastic retainers for the pad keeper thread onto. When was your car built? Mine is a Nov '90 build.

Mine uses the same screw as Johns. '89 C4, I think built in Nov.
