A few months back I posted an issue where my lug not broke off. Happy to say that after many hours of precision drilling, I was able to remove it without ruining my BBS wheel. Sometimes you need a real PITA project to remind you of...... well actually no, I just wish everything went smoothly all the time. C'est la vie!
I'm going to be away for a few weeks in August and I think I'll need to plug my car in while I'm gone. I've got an old Charge-O-Mat that the dealer gave me when I bought my 997 years ago. In my 964, I've replaced the lighter socket with a USB port, so I'll have to attach the charger directly to the battery. Will the adapter shown below work without issue? Any risks there?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, that adapter should work fine. Remember to close the frunk while charging. Otherwise the frunk light switch will turn on the frunk, interior lights and the engine cover, making it harder for your battery maintainer to keep the battery charged.
Does anyone know if the windshield sprayers can be adjusted so they don’t spray for a windshield that is twice as high? Mine seem to get the roof and boot lid just as wet as the windshield itself.
I am trying to find out if the OEM floor mats for the 964 came with large red lettering that spells Porsche.
Porsche Canada has what they claim are OEM mats but the letters look like light gray on black. My MY92 came with red letters on black. Anybody know what colour lettering was standard back when these cars were new?
My 1990 964 had no lettering on the factory floor mats.....
Since I am not the original owner, maybe the previous owner used third party mats. The red on black looks awesome in my opinion.
Still hoping others can confirm that MY92 mats are plain.

Those look like Lloyd's mats to me. Not sure if they still make that style, but they do custom work for whatever you want, so I imagine they will make them if you desire.
They may be OEM, but I don't believe they are 964 OEM. The PET doesn't provide the best information here beyond the multitude of color codes, but I don't think the 964 mats had any lettering. The various floor mats are in Main group 8: Body, Illustration 807-01: Linings, Footwell, Detachable Carpets. Maybe there was some option via Sonderwunsch?
The OEM 964 driver's mat looks like this, with color variations for the different interiors:
The driver side mat is a combination of vinyl and sliverknit velour, while the passenger side is fully sliverknit.
The red lettering looks nice, I like those! I have simple black mats with no lettering made by some third party.
Looking at Pelican, they list "OEM Porsche Classic" mats with lettering. The part number is not the same as in the PET, though, and it seems that some of the OEM mats are maybe not manufactured any longer. Perhaps this is a superseded replacement?
Good eye Daryl. I was too lazy to walk out to the garage and take a photo of my mats, so I grabbed a photo of Lloyds mats off the internet to illustrate how good the red on black looks. Mine look very similar and based on what I am learning from you guys, they may indeed be Lloyds mats in my car but they are worn out.
Looking at PET was a good idea Sooner964. After seeing that, I even searched under PET accessories to see if this was an add-on offered by Porsche, but no luck there. Lloyds was sued by Porsche and will no longer use the Porsche name on their mats and that includes using "964" and "Carrera". I contacted a custom embroidery shop that does car mats and they said the same thing. Its a trademark violation, so I went to my Porsche dealer and paid about double what they should have cost, but I can brag that they are "OEM Porsche Classic" mats. Not nearly as nice as Lloyds though.
I have my turbo's original top mats which were IIRC additional cost back in the day. They are beautiful mats that look like those above but have embroidered turbo in silver and use the same lock downs with cutouts as shown above. Sadly they are NLA and the lloyd matts I purchased which were their top of the line came with turbo embroidered on a separate backing and sewn to the mat. I am not happy with the lloyd products at all. They are very poor quality vs my original OE top mat. The original ones in my 928 don't say anything at all.
I have a set of original top mats with red Porsche lettering but they are not in great condition. I was considering tossing. I believe the color choice was optional but can't be sure. I know at a min they did offer red lettering for these and could get them to match the stitching on the rear seats for the turbos.
That's great info. Thanks Anthony. Now I don't feel so bad about paying more for the quality that I will hopefully get with OEM mats. If only Porsche would offer them with red lettering...
