Unlike the earlier cars they added jack points at each wheel corner. It is far safer than the old single point design when using the factory jack which sometimes had a tendency to slip or rotate into the car damaging it. I don't think Porsche considered what it did to those using a floor jack on that point which it wasn't intended to be used for. IIRC the big Xmas gift was a side plate to insert into that point to use a floor jack with. How many SC's and early 3.2's do I see with bent tubs from people trying to jack the car up where it shouldn't be. Or shops putting them on a lift doing the same. Also that was a point of rust which would damage the frame as it collected dirt and crud behind the reinforcement plate. If you jack up from the rear jack point only on a 964 usually you can get both front and rear wheels off the ground at the same time. You should never use the engine to jack the rear up as you can damage the engine mounts.

I find that so cool.
I'm guilty of lifting the car by the engine case (with Wevo MM)...

Anyone know if the door locks can be rekeyed?
I need to replace my ignition lock and door locks, unfortunately ordering both from the dealer means selling a kidney and additional body parts. The Dansk door handles are a good deal and I was wondering if the locks can be rekeyed? The idea is to get the ignition lock from the dealer and the Dansk door handles, but I would like for them to be rekeyable match the ignition.

I would imagine the lock wafers are available. Maybe a locksmith has an idea on how to source.

Yes, you can, I had an attempted theft once and they damaged the ignition. So new ignition from the dealer and my Indie matched them all to the new one, glove box as well. Tools and I are mortal enemies so I couldn't tell you other than he said to line up all the barrels in the handles to the ignition's combo. It was TRE Motorsports here in LA and Dave is very helpful if you want to give him a call. I feel your pain on the ignition price, IIRC it was close to $900.

Is my intermittent wiper function 'normal' ? The longest interval possible obtained by full rotation of the dial is very very short. Past about halfway the dial basically provides low speed wipers.

Mine aren't like that. On "shortest" I get a few seconds between swipes. On "longest" the delay is quite long.

Thanks and I am in the same boat, damaged ignition and door locks. I switched to a Keyless Go but I am ready to switch back to the good old keyed ignition. I'll reach out to Dave to see if he can share tips.

Bringing this thread up for a quick question. Can the rear wing be manually retracted while still cruising at speed after it was automatically raised (specifically for a 91/cars with the wing switch on center console)?

Default Carpet replacement

Three mysteries:
There seem to be many versions of tan, beige, cashmere to get wrong when ordering a new carpet kit.
first, is there a code or badge or sticker somewhere to know what color carpet I have?
Second, where is the best place to get a kit?
third, my cabriolet doesn’t have back seats but instead two glove box looking compartments. I never see an option for that to specify when ordering. Maybe no cabriolets came with back seats. Any help would be appreciated

AFAIK the 964 only used Cashmere or light (pearl) gray carpet. Although some of the earlier 89-90 cars appear to have a version of linen (beige). What year is your car and are the seats cashmere?
