Another one! It's crappy weather here and I'm set to drop the oil. Can I just let the car idle in the shed to get it up to temperature or is it best to go for a drive.

Driving it is better for it than letting it idle. But yes you can if you like. You are trying to get it hot enough to open the thermostat.

Service centres generally let the engine idle (for thermostat openeing) before starting oil changes - too busy for any driving around.

Does anyone running Turbo/Big Red front calipers have a p/n or link to buy the caliper bolt washer?

It's part 16 on illustration 602-00 in the 993 PET but the list of p/n's goes from 15 to 17. There is a "washer" part number under 15, but if you type it into the parts suppliers site you get the bolt, not the washer.

It's not listed under "brake hardware" on Pelican.

Anyone have a lead on the correct part?

The bolt is an M12. Can't you use any M12 washer?

I’ve read that it has crush or locking properties and isn’t a standard washer. Although the car was delivered with none so I can’t be sure.

It's a wavy lock washer- if I'm thinking of the right part. Can be purchased anywhere. I use McMaster Carr or belmetric for this stuff.

That should be it. I'm going blind but i think that's what you are talking about. I didn't look at anything- just going off what you posted earlier .

But if it's the lock washer for the caliper bolts...then yes that's the type Porsche uses...although theirs aren't stainless.

Agreed. The originals are definitely not stainless but I can't seem to find another option on MC.

Belmetric has them in zinc as well but I'm not sure the originals were zinc either...

I think just about every fastener on the suspension of the 993TT was coated with Dacromet and not zinc.

New issue, zinc plated would be fine, however the OD of the recess in the caliper is 20mm and all of the M12 wave washers I can find online are 23-24mm OD.

I actually went to the dealership today, they had no idea why the part wasn't in their system.

At this point I'm out of ideas.

If you just need a part number, and can't find it, call sunset and ask them. They will likely have it and if not they can get it. I've never had anything but headaches at my local dealer and never had anything but good experiences at sunset.

If you can get past their absurd shipping fees and an occasional indifference to the meaning of "ships next business day" vs "we might have this part for you in 2 weeks," they yes Sunset is a great resource.

I am now convinced that 900.067.292..09 and the accompanying washer in question was superseded by a the last of the many "#15's" in the PET and the updated bolt does not require a washer. It is the same part number as a 997 part, and there is no washer shown in the PET for the 997. The updated bolt also got 3mm shorter, which I guess would make sense.

I will be ordering and installing without the washer unless I hear otherwise between now and when it arrives.
