The silly little question thread ...

Porsche stopped undercoating the hood in late 93. Most of the 93's had it but the RSA and all the late production 93's were painted and clear coated. When the 993 came about they stopped clear coating the underside. The stuff is heavy but I can't tell you how much it adds exactly. My guess is 4-5 pounds.

Of all the cars I have looked at everything up though a few late MY 93's had what some call crinkle paint which is actually a rubberized coating similar to what is used on the underside of the car. It looks like this and is applied prior to paint.
As of late MY 93 they eliminated this which has its pros and cons. The lack of coating lends itself to scratching more easily.
Hard to see in this photo but this is my 94. My 93 has the same coating as seen above as do most any other I have seen.

I wouldn't worry over it. Looks fine as is. Just be careful of what you put in the frunk. I see a lot of these with dents from the underside from people closing the lid on something. I also see a lot of scratches especially obvious when judging concours events.

Reminds me that mine had a dent from the underside too although the rubber coating shows no damage from inside. I had a PDR guy take care of the dent and it’s completely invisible although nerve wracking to watch him tapping on the paint to straighten it out.

Three Wheelin'
Relay identification
Hi everyone,
can anyone help me to recognise this little relay sorry for the dark picture, it is fitted in the cabin, under the dash board, above the 2 ADW sensors. The car was originally fitted with a phone. So I guess it’s from the old phone set up or stereo added . I was not able to trace it on any of the wire diagrams .
I am tidying up the wires under my dash bord since I delete the low dash trim and searching for a issue as my car is not starting .
thanks a lot

Intenet search of the Bosch number leads to this:
Porsche 911 964 993 928 Bosch OEM Lateral Acceleration Sensor 0265005100

Ok than I misunderstood the question. Maybe there's a number on it. Where under the dash is it located?

That is in the center console, right? I think in some model years the relais for the flasher is located there too

Yes, could very well be the flasher relay 111 953 227 D. Only other possibility might be rear wiper relay 928 618 104 00, but I believe that may be an under-seat placement - having said that though, when I stripped out my interior there were only the rear spoiler control units under the driver seat and nothing else.
