964 Refurb

Agreed. 964 engines can be made good. Stock they're not so pretty. Hoewever, Rob, as always, is doing a great job. Just removing the heater blower and a/c can make a world of difference

I think the ugliest part is the air blower bypass. Just as ugly as with the original blower motor. If only I lived in a warmer clime
Singer engine bays look great with the coil-on-plug setup but the costs compared to wasted spark are double. My wasted spark conversion is looking to be 350 quid in parts against 700-800 for COP with very little advantage except reduced EMI and RFI.
Not only that, I don't fancy diagnosing a misfire on a twin spark COP setup - wasted spark is far simpler.

Hi Rob,
Great job as usual, just wonder how smoth is the air inlet carbon pipe inside compare to an alluminium .
I wouldn't be surprised if the engine works & produce same power with a single plug per cylinder,
experience it recently on another engine ...

Rob, you're probably aware of this... But the pictures are disappearing from this thread. Most pics from the first dozen or so pages are already gone... Kind of sad to lose the future reference in a thread as excellent as this one.

Looking at the image URLs it appears to be due to the way images are handled/uploaded on the forum now. The images still exist in my albums but the URLs in the posts haven't been updated to reflect the re-org of the images by the site :-(
How do I get this sorted? :-(

Good idea. Would only require fitting new vacuum take-offs on the rear side of the plenum. All the stuff down the LHS of the engine wil be going soon enough once I've figured out a packaging layout for the new coil packs.

Prep'ing for the next engine drop. Bumper off (waaaaaaaay easier than last time), tranny cover off and rear anti roll/sway bar removed.
Sorry about the dodgy white balance. Didn't realise until I'd uploaded.

Haha yeah, a real sucker for it. I'm not blessed with a big comfy garage like you chaps
Sooner we get to move house the better!!!
I'm dropping the motor to fit the RS lightweight flywheel and clutch kit Once that's in I'll get the car on the rollers for a tweak with the new ECU. I've been holding off the RR session purposely until this job is done as i want a rock sold reliable idle

Hi Rob,
I've caught up with the last few pages of this thread, brilliant!
That just about covers everything right there, excellence is expected! I'm a big fan of de-cluttering, I love the vision.
Cheers,
Paul

Main benefits are increased reliability, zero maintenance, reduced complexity and also less weight - all of which are features/modernisations I've tried to make throughout this build
Cheers,
Paul
