Rob, I did a search on rear bumper heat shields and noticed you had looked at options.
I've got mine off and the main centre section was in a mess.
It's now straightened out and I've stripped off the messy foil and paper like wadding and just tidied it up with some thickish self adhesive aluminium foil.
I've done the same for the centre section light bar shield and the side ones too.
I have a cup pipe, so no big silencer running across the back of the car.
Do you think that's sufficient or is the wadding really necessary ?

Hi Stuart, I recon with the cup pipe you'll be just fine. The original silencer really soaks up and holds the heat compared to a cup pipe. The clearances/air gap will also be much larger now.
Different story with the original exhaust - imagine the worst case ie stuck in traffic on a French motorway in summer! I think its all too easy to underestimate how much heat is generated. At least we don't have to worry about the rear tires cooling off in slow traffic with these cars

Something exciting arrived in the post today

TADAAAAAAA !!!!!!

As per Mark letting the cat out of the bag on this thread here, I decided to take the plunge and order a Typhoon 2 plug-n-play ECU kit from Specialist Components

So, this is what you get in the box....

The ECU, maps loaded and ready to go

The ECU loom plug adapter. This plugs straight into existing porsche engine loom in place of the Motronic.

MAP sensor and mounting bracket

Adapter loom for MAP and Air temp sensor. The kit does away with the old air flow meter and connects the new sensors into the plug that used to connect to it.

A proper carbon inlet tube

6x 440cc fuel injectors - Bosch 0 280 156 280

Wideband 02 sensor (this was an additional purchase not included in the std kit)

ITG air filter with the air temp sensor bonded in. I'm not a fan of these filters as they do very little in the way of filtering.
I'll get things up and running and swap it for a different variety.

ECU mounting plate and a few other odds-n-sods

CAN bus dongle USB adapter

All in all, it looks a pretty darn comprehensive kit. I can't see this install taking longer than a mornings' work , but we'll see.
I'm not going to jump in right away as it 'Classics at the Castle' this weekend so I'll start next week

Don't blame me for your spending!!.....so are you really going to take it to bed every night until it's fitted or are the pics for display purposes only.

nice Rob ... I have the same 440cc injectors but mine are green ... cant wait to fit them.
(seems yours slightly different per this analysis .. injector flow rates - search by partial p/n)

Also it seems my custom system (PO) is built along very similar lines to that one ... is that a VW tps? can you see p/n?

... keen for alternate ideas re air filter too if they're around.

I thought I'd get a comment along those lines
It saved time over putting a white table cloth on the dark wooden dinning room table

No tps here. Just a MAP, IAT & idle/WOT switches. Specialist Solutions are also developing an additional TPS setup, but thats not ready yet. Will be simple enough to add-on if necessary.

Have you had yr car on a dyno yet? Be great if you could get a baseline before you fit it?

Totally agree, that had been the original intention. It comes down to time at the end of the day and an RR session requires loosing a Saturday.

I hear yu

What about one of the dyno app things? With a modern phone and a local road you should get semi repeatable results?

Or has any of the RL massive got a vbox or similar they could lend to you...anyone...anyone...?
