I'm obviously not making this trip but when you are talking walkie talkies do you mean the cheaper Binatone ones, or the professional VHF Motorola things?

I have 6 pro ones, that we use on the Alpine trips, and a couple of the cheaper (but still OK) Binatones. They are on different wavelengths so not comparable with each other.

I can take them to Oulton if there is anyone on the Spa trip going to be there, happy to lend them.

Just give them to Zingari afterwards as I will see him after the trip

That's kind Peter.

I'll be on the Spa trip, and at Oulton about lunchtime onwards, so happy to collect them from you and return to Zingari....

So having done some studying of the 'Lille route' it looks to me it would be:

Exit Tunnel
E40 to Dunkirk
E42 to Lille
E42 to Mons
E19 to Liege (bypassing Charleroi, Namur and Seraing)
Join E40 towards Aachen/Verviers
E42 to Verviers
Spa Francorchamps (exit for some)
Exit J12 for Lingneuville (for those going to the St Hubert)
Over the little bridge
Left at T Junction
Under motorway
Through small village
Left at T Junction
Arrive at Hotel on the right

Does that sound right to those that have done that route?

I would suggest tow comfort/fuel/food stops just after Lille and Just before reaching the E40 for Liege?

Is it worth grouping up at the fuel station on the left just after getting off the train?

Cheers

I'm booked on the EuroTunnel. 10.30 going out. 20.20 returning on the Sunday. I have no car but I have faith that it will be ready. Whoop Whoop..feels more real now I have done this. No turning back now...
I have no fire extinguisher yet. Any suggestions? I don't think I'll have time to mount it so I might have tho use the passenger seatbelt to hold it tight .. or something like that. See you there boys :-)

Wink

I'm trying to sort out my GoPro so can take some footage....not impressed with the user interface or the way you cannot connect anything up to it when its mounted in that clear plastic case it comes with.....like power or mic......compounded by none of my existing video editor/ playback software liking the HD mp4 format....anyway here is a butchered and bodged clip for proof of concept...

A fire extinguisher in not a requirement on track. It's up to you whether to carry one onboard or not. All loose items should be taken out of the car as they will fly about under track conditions. I wouldn't keep a fire extinguisher in the car unless it is very securely fastened.

As for options, Brey Krause and IIRC Rennline do mounts. Extinguishers - good selection on DemonTweeks.

yes - E40 - E42.

Look for
Lille
Tournai
Mons
Charleroi
Liege
Vervier
Spa.

I've done this journey without a map / sat nav, with just that written on the a piece of paper in large print on the dash.

If traffic is clear its no quicker than going through brussells, but I have been caught in brussels in the past.
