Default London 964 Spa Francorchamps Weekend 2013 - The Sequel

Well the wait has been long enough. Following a successful short film, a Total 911 magazine article and mention on possibly every Porsche forum in the UK its time to plan the sequel to "6 964's go to Spa". This time the aim will be for more 964's, an even better movie production, more beers and laughs and soaking in that atmosphere and history at Spa for the full weekend

Key learnings from the last trip which we should look to replicate
* Date should be towards the end of March (circa 23/24th March)- dates to be confirmed once Bookatrack firm up the 2013 schedule. I will set up a group booking name and advise once done
* 4 day weekend (leave Friday morning and return Monday morning) - use Channel Tunnel to get there and back. Itinerary guide below:

Day 1 Friday 22/03 - Meet at Channel Tunnel in morning and head to Spa - stay overnight at hotel near track
Day 2 Saturday 23/03 - Bookatrack trackday - stay overnight at same hotel
Day 3 Sunday 24/03 - Bookatrack trackday - stay overnight at same hotel
Day 4 Monday 25/03 - Head back to channel tunnel in morning and back to London

* Aim to do both Saturday and Sunday at Spa - indicative costs should be around £450 for both days (or £250 for 1 day) if we book in advance under a group booking
* Aim to get the garages thrown in for free as per last year
* Anyone looking for insurance - a couple of us used REIS and they were quite reasonable for cover on track
* Accomodation - aim for same accommodation as it delivered in all areas especially dinner which was Michelin star quality
http://www.hotelsainthubert.be/eng_a..._st-hubert.php
* indicative cost will be 60Euros a night (This includes continental breakfast and a set 4 course evening meal)

Key learnings from the last trip which we should aim NOT to replicate
* Anyone looking to self build their 3 piece wheels should probably forgo consulting Cheeksyboy.............just saying
* Dont bother trying a sneaky trip to the Ring if your 964 exceeds 100DB static noise - lets just say I have a nice 24 Euro credit card size bit of plastic in my wallet as a momento of not being allowed on track for excessive noise and oil leaks.............
* Dont bother trying to argue with "The Doctor" as he officially knows everything about everything......just soak in the wisdom!
* Frank to check his rear brake lights are locked in place so we dont need to pull over on the A20 back to London as its dangling off the back like an eyeball out of its socket

So - who is in then??
Note: I shall also extend the invite out the the Vauxhall boys again

Attendees: we will update the list as we go as people advise of interest

1. BU - 2 days at Spa
2. ..........................

Are there any requirements that your car needs to do the track day, sorry never done one before but very interested in this trip.

So long as your car is well maintained you could pretty much pitch up and drive, the only mechanical requirement is that you fit the towing eye to the front, so if you dont have one in your front compartment toolkit you need to buy one.

Good suspension will make things a bit more enjoyable as will reasonably fresh tyres. Neither are vital but if you're looking at driving 1000 miles and spending a fair chunk of cash they are worth thinking about.

More of a necessity are newish brake pads of oem quality or better along with fairly fresh brake fluid will help you avoid boiling your brakes.

Thumbs up

Will be there for the 2 days in a 'proper' 964 , after a 2 year break from Spa.
Steve's account of the trip really sold it to me , hopefully he wont be adding too many performance enhancements before the date comes round - he's fast enough already !
