Of course they're not similar That's why I'm pleased to run close to one. I'm also pleased about having two AMG C63s behind me too

(Just don't bring up the Golf in front of me )

Are the Hawk Blues a streetable pad (and for the OCD among us...does it chuck out a lot of dust?)
My indy will be fitting the kit for me because seeing as I reach the grand old age of 50 next week I've decided I'm getting pretty lazy for some DIY jobs! I believe those bits (12 o'clock) fasten the ducting to the arch liner (after cutting a hole in it). The air then hits the deflector plates that bolt to the inside of the arch. I'll be sure and take some pics when they're fitted at the end of the month.

The Hawks have been good on the road. Plenty of bite at low temperature and not too noisy. The down side of the Hawk blues is that the dust is pretty nasty! As soon as it gets wet and the wheels hot, it bakes onto the rims. It's also left marks on the wings and doors at times....I've had to cut and polish it off. A real shame because the Hawks have been much better performers than any Pagid compounds I've tried. Hawks are cheaper too!

The dust problems are also a reason why I'm having the ducts fitted....hopefully having cooler brakes will let me go back to Textar pads or Ferodo DS2500 which are far more dust friendly.

my old 924 was faster than a ferrari 360 on the track.

i'm sure the fact that the driver of the F360 was on his first track day had nothing to do with the results.

the 924 really is faster than the F360.

I'd be very curious to see what they look like when they're finished, by the sounds of it, it wouldn't be impossible to make a home-made version of the same.

I'm very tempted to try a set of Endless pads. I've had them on Japanese cars, and they barely show any dust at all.

I don't think anyone's saying that my 964 is faster than a 996TT on slicks...I think what we are saying is that we are pleased that the 964/driver combination can come close to the newer car (which is a really dynamite package).

Seeing as you already have the ducts in the PU, it would indeed be better to do the rest yourself. I believe others have. I'll put pics and notes up for you when they're done.

yea ... kind of .. but it really just shows that you have some experience and the driver in the 996TT was going super slow .. perhaps his first track day and he didnt want to slip the $100k car into the wall with no insurance cover.

sheesh your a tough audience

"...and the driver in the 996TT was going super slow"
sml, would be great if you could share some of your track results with us?

"...he didnt want to slip the $100k car into the wall with no insurance cover"
lets just make up some facts to back up our theories?

PS. don't take me too seriously, I'm just sticking up for Kevin. He is too modest, and we all LOVE his threads

The time of the new Toyota GT86 is the one that particularly impresses me. Good to see Toyota going against the grain and bringing out a new RWD sports car.

They were both development cars for local workshops, and had only very mild power mods (just the exhaust I think), but big brake kits, HKS coilovers, diff and racing tyres.

Being driven by ex-rally champions also contributed positively to the laptimes but it's quite clear that the 86 is a serious bit of kit if given the proper treatment. Under 1'10 at this particular track is absolutely flying.
