6. Engine lid grille.
Ordered the replacement 1974 engine lid grille from Porsche. The superceded 3.2 Carrera part arrived. It does not fit, but will with modification. Story of this car from what it seems to me.
Struggling to find a source for the 1974 oil cooler grille in the back of the spoiler. Anyone got any clues where to look??

7. Suspension
From build we have had an issue with odd camber on the rear wheels. After trying a different trailing arm we eventually borrowed parts from a customers RS (with his permission!) to finally trace the problem to an odd pair of 964RS springplates as supplied by Porsche. Wasted three days looking for this issue. Car seen here after final alignment (with 996 turbo wheels on the back to make adjustments easier).

Remember the oil cooler duct I mentioned? Robin made a cardboard plug for the part yesterday. This morning I come into work to see him already dressing the glassfibre part.....

At last it seems like we are making good progress.
Since the last update Marc has pulled out the front loom and fully reconstructed the wiring for the ABS and electric power steering systems. It's a brain-ache of a job which culminated with the 996GT3 ABS unit having its own OBD2 socket and reworking the wiring for the unit to talk to the 993 wheels sensors; even the warning lights on the dash work now when the system faults (tested by unplugging a sensor. The 993RS ABS booster pump primes the system pressure on start up & self regulates.
ABS system. Done.
Power Steering. Done.

Remember Robin's quickie fibreglass air duct? Here it is in place on the car behind the oil pipes. The purpose of the duct is to allow air to exit the front cooler duct into the wheelarch without passing through the upright oil cooler.

So now that Marc has finished his work on the wiring we can finally box off the interior.
The door panels are fitted with the factory self-adhesive membrane as a water barrier from the door panel hardboard backplate.

How to make a set of wheel arch liners
How to make the wheel arch liners is a job that we have been contemplating for a few weeks. Unfortunately the stock 964 & 965 liners do not even come close to fitting. Furthermore due to the swing radius of the oversize tyres modified stock liners would also catch the wheels in their standard locations. Our only option is to make fully custom liners which fit the space perfectly.
Answer? Glassfibre.
Fit bumper and let Robin lose on the car with 4 rolls of masking tape, cardboard and paper. Hopefully by the end of the week a gallon of resin & 5 metres of GF mat will have been put to good use and we will have ourselves a pair of arch liners......
