Default Control Systems & Wiring.

The plan for this car is to build a complete custom wiring loom with PDM modules which are integrated into the control functions of the engine control unit (ECU), however so much of this design is cutting edge that we are having to wait until the engine design is completed before we can hard programme the ecu. As a result the car had been left somewhat in limbo waiting on the developments coming to a head. I'm sure you will have all noticed this already.....

However, in an effort to progress the remaining systems on the car, me and Marc have decided to strip back a 964 loom and use that in the car until the new system is finalised. Hence, take one 964C2 wiring loom, remove all outer sheathing and cover tape, then cut out the stuff you don't need. Result is a larger pile of knitting in the "not required" section than left in the loom. Not a job for the faint hearted, methinks?

Kind of, but with the agreement of the customer. All down to investing significant time and resources into several new technology products for the aircooled Porsche engine domain which will appear as a complete engine/ecu/pdm package on this car. It's cutting edge stuff the details of which I cannot divulge, however all I can say is that it will be worth the wait for the customer and your good selves looking on.

And talking of which, the customer has dropped in for a visit & project review this week and has been wandering around with his camera in hand, hence I expect an update from him as soon as he gets a chance to edit his photos.

Default Hurray hurray End of May - All done except the engine!

Visited the 9M works last week and as always amazed with the beautiful projects on hand and top quality kraftmanship performed under the care of Colin, Marc and their fantastic team.
Patience is slowly paying off, the end is very near of our project and in short is expected to be completed by End of May for the Running Gear and Shell, except the engine.
Our Engine Guru needs a little more time to tune and squeeze the last horses out of the engine and make it reliable for high temp. / high humidity environment. Work of Art in progress and the forecast is stunning, Stuttgart Engineers might need an advanced engine development course to keep up whats in store.

The plan has been drilled down to a list to do and to our pleasant surprise the outstanding work is not that much but need to change the path of attack to finish off the items to be installed first and follow the list to the end down.

Cracking on last week, crossing a few more details off the list. Power steering pump now installed, lines made and fitted, hydraulic test passed.

Oil system nearly finished as well, now awaiting one fitting for the cooler and crimping of the aeroquip to the hard lines.
