WOB stated that the fees had been paid. The connection of WOB-BaT-Broad Arrow-PWH-Hagerty makes one wonder what's going on.

Sellers pay $99 fee to list, and buyers pay a 5% fee capped at $7,500. In a no-reserve auction, it could be worth it for the dealer to absorb a max fee of $7,500 to avoid a bigger loss when the right bidders aren't in the room.

So, in that scenario, the seller ends up paying $7,599.00 to list their car on top of their cost to prep/photo/present.

The world is a funny place.

Yup. For the 964, seller would've paid $4,299. I don't know how that affected their PnL, but I agree with darylbowden that this was a shill bid caught out.

I can see eating it on a 250k+ car...but not a 80k 964.

Broad Arrow is having a big Porsche auction on April 27th and have a couple 964’s. One is a white RSA and the other is a black/cashmere 3.6 Turbo. I saw this RSA a couple years ago when I visited RPM Sports Cars to inspect my USA Cup car. Ray also had a nearly identical red RSA to the white one with similar options, mileage, and condition. Both were passed around from dealer to dealer for a while after that. Broad Arrow actually auctioned off the red one last year however thought it was a no sale (link here to that one). They were both pristine cars, but were priced high in the mid to high 2’s. The black 3.6 Turbo was for sale with Zweck up until recently. Maybe they decided to take it off their site to auction it off with Broad Arrow. The Momo steering wheel has been changed back to the stock airbag one. Broad Arrow has been uploading more cars frequently to the list to be auctioned off so there maybe more coming.

Something doesn't quite add up with the turbo. Both seats around the switches are showing signs of cuts as though the seats were recovered and not properly. Similar lifting of vinyl on the center console. Color is much different than my 2 cashmere interiors. Could be lighting. The car looks super clean yet the rubber wing is slightly dried and sun faded. Also I have been having issues with Porsche window seals and I notice the rear quarter windows are both sucking in at the back ever so slightly the best I could get out of them and it seems to be a problem these days.. Could be factory but usually they don't look like that. Not saying anything was done but worth a close look before bidding. I was not impressed by most of what I saw them try to sell at Amelia but they had a few nice cars..

There is a chance from the things you pointed out on the interior that some of it may’ve been redone. Wouldn’t be the end of the world, but would wanna get it done properly. The seals are quite odd at the rear quarter windows. Didn’t notice it so much from Broad Arrow’s listing, but see it more on Zweck’s photos. Don’t think it should look quite like that, but can’t say for sure if the factory would’ve done it like that on some cars. Wasn’t impressed either with a lot of what Broad Arrow had on offer at Amelia. Their offerings are not as nice as the other high end auction houses.

Forgot to post that a dealer has the white RSA listed up for sale for $266k. Top of the market for a RSA and a lot for one with a sunroof and no LSD.

Current dealer listing:

Previous RPM Sports Cars listing:

Put yourself in their shoes - if you can boost the selling price by 5k, you're already in the black.

As we've seen with so many auctions, what drives the price up is having at least 2 people in the "room" who really want the car. If one of them is a shill, really there's only one person in the room, but the price they are going to pay is being escalated. This happens all the time in real world auctions - often times you'll notice that they lift the reserve and then one person magically stops bidding. That person was the shill. In an online auction, there is less of the real time removing of the reserve, but we'd all be kidding ourselves if we thought there weren't shills in those rooms too. And in this particular situation, the pattern of bidding and the cars' final resting places is just too much to overlook.

Nice OE+ RSA here. https://www.gasmotorcars.com/vehicle...ga-id-56256219

Description a little wonky, as those are not magnesium Euro RS wheels. Shame it doesn't have original seats.

GP White/Matador Red ‘92 C2. LSD and shows 57k miles. Asking is $138k. From the Pcarmarket listing the right rear quarter measures high likely meaning paintwork on at least that panel.

Current listing:

Previous Pcarmarket listing from 2019 @ 54k miles:

It did say that the original seats are available, I believe. As nice as those Recaro CS Sportster seats are in the photos, the factory original cloth Recaros are just a nice ‘fit’ with the rest of the RSA.
