Correct maritime 38B was first introduced in 1991 although if it was a late build it could have been ordered if you knew the right questions to ask. I don't see the point in these as their days as track weapons are long over and aren't something I would drive on the street without a helmet. Seems they are touting it as a track car though. I would buy the US cup and track that long before the RS.

Funny my friend Pino and I said years ago we will be making money retuning these kit cars back to stock maybe that will happen one day.

 

Yeah, unoriginal and imperfect, but sub-200 seems like a good buy for someone wanting a guilt-free driver. Bet it's a blast with the 3.8 as well. I did just notice it's in Belgium, so probably not. really a bargain for someone importing.

 

These cars seem to go for about $1M. Can't really figure this out. Maybe that craze will stop some day. They do have an aura that seems to be continuing. I am not a Singer basher, in fact I like them. But not at $1M

 

I admire the cars Singer puts out in their engineering and craftsmanship. It’s sad however that another car (a 964) has to effectively lay down its life for a Singer to be born. Some good 964’s have gone to produce Singer’s. Also for the price that some of these are (on the second hand market and list price of the new ones coming out) you can have pretty much any 911 you can think of. No question I would take a 964 RS 3.8, Turbo S Lightweight, ‘73 RS 2.7 Lightweight, ‘74 RS 3.0, 993 GT2, etc. over a Singer DLS Turbo.

I couldn't agree more. So many other, original P-cars I'd prefer over a Singer for that kind of money. I'd add Ruf to the list.

I agree though, if you want to "restomod" something. Going with a tribute of a period racecar or at least keeping it motorsport and tasteful, seems to be somewhat future-proof for value...if that's what you're worried about.

 

Hello all, was out driving my 991.1 GT3 RS last Saturday, nice day. A gentlemen what I believe was a 964 pulled up to me, and I fell in love.

Such a simpe elegant car. Wife has been floating the idea of getting a 911 Convertible as another fun car. I really like the 964 convertible.

WHere is the best place to look for a 964 convertible? A bit a project car is fine.

 

The problem is lots of you here seem to think about modifying the car and its future value, whereas, most enthusiasts aren't speculating about the next owner and the pay day upon selling. Some of us just like modifying cars, I could care less about the future. The car is mine.

 

Man I cant deny it. I've been a modder forever...but just since my short ownership, the prices on these have gone up so much, I admit, I cant 100% ignore it. It's not all about the value of the core car, either...The prices of the parts and services required to mod these cars is also up there so (just like it's always been in hotrodding) you don't want to build something with all your time and money that is so eclectic, it's impossible to salvage a reasonable amount of your investment later because.....over the years, I've also earned that I change my tastes from time to time and desire a different car so there's that.

Took a perfect, low mile foxbody and...well I changed it.

 

Unlike the 20 somethings I see buying GT3RS's because they have to have the latest fastest and only want to modify the exhaust to make its ridiculously loud, personalizing your 911 was always a thing for the last 40+ years. There were some crazy builds here and there and some monstrosities like the Gemballa Avalanche, but they were mostly built on newer cars. Even Ruf mostly purchased white tubs from Porsche to vin and build their own cars. Now we have Sounderwunsch so Porsche can customize your car for you. Another money maker.

Singer is the first to nearly decimate an entire lineage of Porsche 911 by building overpriced need to be seen in modernized air-cooleds. I can understand one or twelve but hundreds with a min of 4 a week being chopped up is just out of control and one day these will be just another modded 911 with more available than a 965 or at this rate stock looking 964. I don't ever plan to sell although I said that about my 74 IROC RS clone I had for 19 years and foolishly sold. What cracks me up about the singer owners I see is they never really drive them. They go from point A to B but most I have followed I hear shifting them at <4k rpms and not really winding them out as these should be. So what is the point. I would rather drive my slow 964 fast than a fast singer slow. I also agree for $1M or more there are many other 964's I would have. A 3.8RS or 92 TSL comes to mind.

 

I know many here do not believe Hagerty's valuations but the number shown here was close to the estimate during a recent in person valuation.
