cool story. I have nearly the same in mind but more like a rolling restauration (conversion C2, lightning wiring...) until the time, i have everything technically done and then have "just" to disassemble the whole car again and make it nice looking....
No street usage in mind any more? Even a trackday at the nuerburgring should justify to keep the heating system. I had two years without heating in the area of munich and there have been some trackevent, where i missed the heating in the car...

I need to get the car street legal in EU so I can take it to the ring. I’ll put that on second priority though as I’m changing so much with the car setup and need to test everything properly before I get to that.
I’ve been looking into the last two years track days and I’ve only used the heat once and that was for defogging the window in the morning.
What I’m going to do is install a small electric heating element in the channel towards the windscreen for defogging.

i have a heated windscreen from UK, that helped a lot. Usually, i do trackdays at the ring until oktober and drive up to the ring (250km) by the car (no trailer nor tow-car) after work from frankfurt (160km) and in the evening hours, it is to cold w/o heat.
I have my car since 11 years now and are fine with full monoball suspension, manual steering, tweaked engine with headers, big breaks, two oil coolers, hood and bonet carbon parts, bucket seats, no clima, no radio and no damping any more i have to do the C2 conversion and then stripping the wiring harness... after that, i have to refresh the entire body-shell, because it gets quite ugly over the years :-)

This is an awesome project. Cool how you stripped the paint. I went water blasting in the end which took weeks /months and cost a lot. This seems like a better option.
What colour are you going to paint it?
And what’s your plan for the engine.

Just watched the YouTube video. This is a fun project to watch.
Question i have is on future rust protection. Are you going to re-galvanize the shell after you do the welding, rollbar, etc? How will you get paint, primer, etc into the inner recesses of the shell?

Im going to do a light overhaul of my 3.8 and put a new GT3 intake on it and a new lighter exhaust. Other than that my engine is already done and I’m super happy with it.

I’m not completely done with my thought process on the corrosion protection. One way is to powder coat the car everywhere except the outside. They can add corrosion protection in the paint and it is done on rally cars.
