VW/Audi 07K (2.5L 20V I5) Swap Thread
#2296
Hey you can always claim it's a Porsche with the billet cam cover! It's true about the deepest pockets but there are secrets that can be utilised to make up a lot of time. Aero is definitely one of them. I know you guys will want to do your own but getting a qualified Aerodynamicist to scan your car and come up with a package can make a TON of difference and generally for a lot le$$ than an Uber expensive higher horse motor. If you're serious about that, contact me privately and I'll point you in the right direction. SQ trans is hard to beat though. They can make up many tenths per shift on the old tractor Porsche H pattern. But you'll have fun getting faster and faster.

Also on a side note, does anyone have tips on how to get the oil pan core off? I got all the bolts out except for the one I assume is under the front seal. I have the front seal unbolted but I can't seam to pry the plate off without damaging it. I'm pretty sure its stuck on the crank seal. Is there any way of removing that plate without bending it?
Thanks

Depending how different the balance is with the swap I think this link should be a good starting point to be refined on.

You can reuse the 944 pieces that attach to the pedal linkage. Remove the plastic and rubber end pieces from the 944 cable, and remove the aluminum end piece from the Lokar cable, and install the 944 pieces on the Lokar cable. It's much easier than trying to attach the aluminum Lokar end piece to the pedal linkage, IMO (I tried it a couple times and ripped my hair out in frustration before I figured out that the 944 pieces could be used).

We will be building my widebody car for GridLife Time Attack. We are still deciding what class to build it for but we are aiming for Track Mod. The plan is 600+ wheel horsepower, sub 2500#, lots of rubber and lots of aero. It should be competitive although the class leader is currently a 800hp twin turbo vette with a sequential transmission. As with any type of racing, he who has the most money typically wins.

That car (and Alan's car) was built for HPDE's. We will be building my widebody car for GridLife Time Attack. We are still deciding what class to build it for but we are aiming for Track Mod. Hey all, I've searched back through the thread and checked out the parts spreadsheet.
Please could anyone help me double-check that this parts list is the most accurate and up to date before I order?
(this'll be for a turbo build)
06A905115D ignition coils (audi oem)
900143 Pontiac solstice slave cylinder & bearing - if I'm looking for an OEM Solstice cylinder, should I get the base or GXP version? they have different part numbers from pontiac. Do I need the separate pilot bearing also?
1J0422152G 1.8T power steering pump (vw/audi oem)
021133064A throttle body (VW oem)
thanks for any help.

- Coils are Audi/VW 1.8T coils, that is the correct part number for OE. Mike describes them in this video -
- GM part number for the slave cylinder is 24234308 or 24249824. As far as I know you need the GXP version. If you buy the Boost Brothers Garage bell housing they will include a pilot bearing with their adapter. Good price here - https://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-2010-S...M/230627242695
- Adapter for slave cylinder to allow an AN line to be used can be bought here - https://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-LS-LSX-T...P/352395034436
- The power steering pump was used on a bunch of different models and engines so it has a lot of OE part numbers, 1J0422152G is one of them. Seems most start with 1J042215xxx. Not sure what the differences are or why there are so many different numbers. I bought one that fits a 1.9L diesel and it fits fine.... 1J0422154A but also 1J0422154E, 1J0422154H, 1J0422154HV, etc.
- 021133064A is correct for cable driven throttle body, from early VR6 models. If you want drive-by-wire, stock 07K and there are some others that fit as well I think, search this thread. Not sure if the Performance Electronics kit that Boost Brothers Garage sells will support DBW and you would need a custom pedal.
