Does indeed look like it and the price is about what I believe Alan said it ended up being. Initially it was supposed to ~$900 and then it doubled.

I did consider doing the same but these old engines are rare and expensive...

A standard AAN/3B is still cheaper than a 951 engine and a decent swap to perform. There's always one for sale on Audi forums and Facebook groups, so not that hard to find. Even with the increased base engine price that swap could still be done for cheaper than an 07k swap. But there's still certainly advantages of the 07k.

I would love to know the stock rpm and torque limits of both those engines, as well as what breaks first. I'm hoping one of us can test the stock 07k to breaking point so we know definitive safe max boost level and safe rpm!

Does anyone know roughly what a base 07K engine weighs? I've looked, but only seem to find reference to the aluminum block version.

Here you go...the TTRS engine he mentions is the iron block one since his post was made before the 07k evo (aluminum block) came out in the RS3/2nd Gen TTRS.

There is also 4 pounds of chain in that weight.
Yes, 349 pounds. 383 with a steel flywheel and 707 saches pressure plate. TTRS is advertised at 403 pounds with clutch/flywheel, but that also includes a AC pump(but doesn't include a PS pump). I'll have a full weight 7a on the scales in a few.

FWIW i pulled my 944 NA engine in November and the long block with intake/exhaust manifolds, fuel rail, ac compressor, alternator, alternator bracket, motor mount brackets, bellhousing, clutch assy, etc ready to drop in and run was right at 400lbs. that engine had balance shaft delete but also had wet sleeves installed, and the FW was a 9lb aluminum vs the 15lb steel...but figure ~420lbs for a factory-stock 944 NA engine.

so the 07K with turbo (is there a bellhousing?) is ~40lbs lighter

Lots of interest in this swap. The weight of the complete aluminum 07k evo engines is pretty impressive. 50lbs less than a kswap. 100 lbs less than an LS (the complete ls1 I installed into my 964 was just under 450lbs with block hugger shorty manifolds but without a waterpump. I ran an electric meziere pump in this car). Total weight of the vehicle with the LS was 2640 lbs. 1000 LBS front, 1640 lbs rear.
I can confirm that removing 100 lbs from behind the rear axle (3.6 aircooled engine complete was 535 lbs if I remember correctly) makes a substantial difference in mid corner stability, threshold braking and overall light-on-it's-toes feeling at the wheel. 415whp with 232/240 cam and ported 243 heads.

I would imagine the difference is negligible, though.
guys on the forum have experimented taking stuff off, then putting some weight back on
such as big brakes and roll bars.
Light/ not 50/50 cars go fast around Deadman's Curve.
These cars do pretty good with the tire/suspension alterations.

Been a real long time since I have been on here . In that time I have bought all my swap parts finally and am just waiting for the ECU and harness to ship . I do have a few factory parts I need to order ,,,, but I am really getting close to time to do the swap .

Coming from a big company ,, that is about as dirty as you can get . Let the little guy do all the work and then take the design for nothing .

I've follow the 07K swap stuff a little. That quick lime BH doesn't look like the one Boost Bros sells:https://www.boostbrothersgarage.com/...earing-adapter

Or is the original comment referring to a different Alan?

The bellhousing was supposed to be made by Quicktime , Alan did all the work on the design end . Once it was done and sent to them ,,, they came back with a price double of the quote . Needless to say the version sold now through Boost Brothers is what came out after that .
