Oh, that certainly opens it up to a lot of possibilities. No matter, still stinks!

Lots in the works. I will get some pics of the carnage and new stuff up soon, along with some pics of my bearings. < I'm very proud of these!!!

Thinking about a new thread for the bigger engine.

Your bearings you say... Care to elaborate?

Are you working with Dave and Josh on this new engine?

The new engine is basically my design, but using a closed deck block that Dave has developed using his sources. We have been working on the block design for awhile. And of course, Josh will be tuning it.

To say that all three of us "work together" is kind of funny. We are really good friends bouncing ideas around and then one of us runs with it. It's definitely a joint effort.

I took some pics, I'll link them in awhile.

I am however taking a different route using off the shelf parts for a much more inexpensive build cost.

A few photos of the internals after 15,000 miles and 130 quarter mile passes. At least around 50 times through the burnout box bouncing off the 7,000 rpm rev limiter.

Coating on the bearings is still present. I could actually re-use them. From experience, I can attest the the stock bearings would not have held up.

Now onto some new parts.

pistons before machining

Coating materials for exhaust ports, piston tops and another for cam cradles, piston skirts.

cleaning under the hood

I will be updating this thread with my new engine build.

Thanks for this post this is great info. Would an 84 944 engine be a good starting point for a build like this

OK, going to go ahead and update this thread since I've changed my plans so drastically from the initial plan.

Decided to stay with an 8v head. Decided to do this because I've been playing with DSM's lately. (watched a couple destroy some top fast street cars.. 7 second variety, at the legal street races)

Made the choice b/c I just didn't want to have two cars that might be laggy. Also, I thought about it and I really didn't need much more power than the 2.85. as it went almost 130mph in the quarter and I can only go 135 before having to addd a ton of safety equipment. I think this will probably run in the tens at low 130's.
-----------------------------------------------------

So onto version 2 of my hybrid stroker. It is a 3.0L using the same crank and rods. The block is from FRF. It is a closed deck using ductile iron flanged sleeves.

Used off the shelf Wiseco 4.155 pistons for a SBC.

Intial build will be using a turbo head with 47mm valves self ported. I will then try a cam and then I might be doing a bigger valve NA head through MM.

Short block is assembled and I'm now onto doing the head.

Here are a few pics, I apologze if I posted some of these in another thread. I'm consolidating it all into this one.
