Bruce,

Yeah I explained the torque tube, half shafts, crank gears, rear hub flanges etc.

So...

After talking to them. Actually the head tech which is Sporty Bandimere. I only need a bar and harness to go to 9.99 (with the exception of MPH which Sporty will be meeting about)

So yeah not too hard.

If I could have just carried out that 1.72 sixty foot run.... ugh.

I will try to get a ten out of it this year.

The Roll bar itself is a bit of a pain in the rump. That will take some time. Reason for my time frame. I figure that leaves you out for this year. But if you can get her done. That'll be great.!!!!

It sounds like making your car legal for 11.0-11.49 is just easy and no problem.

The only things you need are these two;

A simple 6 point roll bar is nothing. Removable swing arm is the answer for Daily Driver.
Some 4 point harness. - cheap.

Things you already have;

Helmet.
You already have the SFI jacket. Jeans and tennis shoes.. You're covered.
No driveshaft loop needed.. Clearly

You're covered until you run a 10.99. Which is great. Get kicked off. You've met your goal. - I challenge you to do this before next summer. Which is at least the amount of time I think it will take you. (challenge)
I laughed when i saw biggest drive shaft loop

Sid - Are you running a single 044 fuel pump?

Yeah, single with a fifth injector. I installed a dedicated power supply with its own relay,

So far, it hasn't went lean yet.

One real 044 pump (with proper wiring) should be enough for five of my 80# injectors (or four 100# units)...

Thanks! I installed a genuine 044 for my 2.85L motor so I should be set.

All this talk of "real" and "genuine" 044 pumps makes me wonder... is there some concern of getting a counterfeit?

Rogue,

Interesting. I think I have a "fake" (that I got in Germany). It has NO markings what-so-ever.

However, looking at the knock-off link, it says the fakes are M14 inlet and real ones are M18.

The one I got in Germany has an M18 inlet.

I'm sure that as the knock-offs get "better", they will be harder to detect from real. I saw this happen a lot with wastegates & blow-off valves. Eventually, the original (real) manufacturer has to change the design to keep separation between the real and fake.

The other thing that happens, is that actual product is taken off the line (out of the factory) by employees and sold at deep discounts.

Reviving my thread... not for good reason..Ugh

A very strange incident happened driving home today.

Just sitting at a light, start to take off slowly getting ready to turn, and all of a sudden the engine starts to run rough. I take an immediate right and pull into a parking lot. A **** load of white smoke comes bellowing out of the exhaust and I hear a weird sound from the engine. I shut it down and call Dave to help me tow it to the shop.

Take a look and I see coolant dripping from the header/crossover v-band.

We get it to the shop and I start tearing it down because it was such a weird combination of noise and I knew I wouldn't sleep tonight if I didn't check it out.

Well, Once I pull the intake I quickly realize it isn't a head gasket issue. I find 1/2 of a valve seat in the #3 intake port. I then look at all ports and see that #1 is missing the intake seat (part of it anyway).

For a minute, I thought I might have gotten lucky.

I tear into it further and get the head off. I must admit I love the v-band headers....

I see once the head is off that the seat had beat up number one piston pretty bad.

I still thought I may be lucky because the cylinders looked good. BUT..I inspect the bore closer and see that the top of that cylinder got broken when the seat jammed into it.

So, at this point, I'm out a block, head, one piston minimum.

The good news is that I have spare parts from the initial build. including:

another set of 4 pistons
another set of rings
extra set of bearings.
Another head being done already with bigger valves

I will pull the shortblock this next weekend and check the crank and rods out. I don't think there is any problem considering it was running ok and oil pressure was fine.

If the crank and rods are OK my worst case is Im out about 1300. and my time.

It sucks in a way because it was such a fluke occurance. I don't know how I could have forseen this one coming.

At least I have a little time before the season starts.....

Maybe I'll build it bigger IDK..
