I could see an awesome solution for this that also incorporates oversize spherical rod ends. Eliminating the tie rod end altogether. Using the hybrid method and an aluminum spacer.

You know, that might just be brilliant...

Tie rod ends are ~$30 each, whole tie rods are ~$80...get a few spherical joint rod ends (http://www.mcmaster.com/4483T461; these are even bigger than stock threads!) and some threaded rod(http://www.mcmaster.com/98942A119)/threaded receiver to hold it together and you'd be good to go forever...

4 rod ends and enough rod to make 2+ tie rods = ~$125...

To robstah

If that's what you were suggesting (what Duke has done), then I apologize. Your illustration appeared to show a fixed relationship between the red and blue lines. And thus reason for my comments.

Anyway... it appears that I was considerably short sighted in this discussion. My comments to you certainly didn't help things. So please accept my apology.

To Duke:

Is that a manual or power steering rack?

Bruce, Forgive me as I haven't read through the posts but, is 3" ride height(for the rack) at full suspension compression?

The cars that I built billet uprights for have the steering point as low as you can before the hardware is into the inner rim halve. That being said, the cars are running on 1200-1400lb springs with a 2"-3" max suspension travel.

You drifted over to the 928 forum and glad you did. Great build you have going on here. Will be following your build to completion. Piranha Bros installing a LS376/525 (injected) motor along with a T-56 into my street/light track 80 928. Search "Just Peachy"on the 928 forums if interested in more. I'm down in Rockport, where are you in Texas ? 77tony

I'm about... over a month late to this one! It's right around there yes. Billet uprights? - You mean bump steer kit? If so I'd like to see this. Thx.

Well, it was a Chevy V8 post. That's a crazy set up! Full Corvette drive line with 6 speed. Very cool. I'd like to see some videos when it's done.

I'm in Houston. My door is ALWAYS open to anyone who wants to stop by if you get the chance.

UPDATE;

Nothing has changed much in the past 2 months. I have been working hard on getting the T bar delete stuff all sorted - The spring plate design has changed to fit almost all needs with a bulletproof type design. The other spring plates just weren't cutting it. I'm shipping out all new spring plates to everyone that has bought these in the coming months. (absolutely no cost)

Also between the Huge Shop move, Formula 1 race, thanksgiving and Tbar redesigns, I just haven't had any time for my car. That won't change until January. I plan to start trying to finish her up, full steam, around mid January. Nothing really until then.

Thanks CyCloNe, It's Nordic Gold. 95ONE, Piranha Bros shop just south of you in Port Lavaca. Dinsdale already has a 82 S.C. 928 (Porsche motor) mated to a T-56. Next up is the "Just Peachy" build. LS3 will also be mated to a T-56 and the plan is to make kits for both. Videos a few months away. We get up to Houston occasionally and would love to see your build. pm 77tony

95one - You need to just break down and start making those 968 race front clips. C'mon. Help us poor racers upgrade our looks as well as our suspensions.

I understand your request whole heartedly. I just don't have the space or time to make these. I hate that I don't. I could use a couple spares without a doubt.
The look and full aero style of these noses are fantastic.

Hopefully sometime in the future.
