Pete well done, I am very curious about ow the Holset spools as I have a couple on the shelf (HX40 and HC1)
I am contemplating swapping my DD back to T3 and the Holsets seem to be beefier internally than the garretts (larger shafts and bearings). As I am sure you know the 12cm hotside is avail and for what I am doing it could be a good cheap combo.

I'm wiser about the #18 spooling in two weeks. A friend of mine uses the same turbo with #12 turbine in a 3.0l, I know the hp/tq numbers but not the spooling...he promised to e-mail me the dyno sheet, but I haven't seen it yet.

Pete, What kind of a blow off valve are you using? Any idea on its flow? I'm doing a 911 turbo with a blowthrough MAF similar to the setup you have, we need a huge BOV.

Congrats Pete !
SID ! LOL..... Nuts as Usual plain nuts

TiAL Bv50mm. I guess flow figures can be get from TiAL. I chose it b/c of huge ports...they seem to be bigger in area than the flange, so it flows quite a bit even in small piston opening. You can always use two of them...

Brasilian Master Power makes clones from Holset chargers. They are about 150€-200€ cheaper than similar "real one". At least here in Finland a lot of BMW guys uses them.

I was few hours ago at Pete's place kicking tires as usual; Engine lookd just incredible. I also am anxious to see what kind of figures he get. Vitesse stuff looked real nice not to mention Pete's own custom made parts. It's good when you have a friend who builds first, most likely i am going to copycat quite a lot Pete's ideas to my own engine

The previous turbo I had ( K27/6 modified ) had a Holset compressor wheel. When selecting turbo for this engine I was thinking a GT3582R, but was spoken out of that. " Why would you use '80's technology when you can have modern one instead", told me the guy who heads the shop ( http://www.turbotekniikka.fi/ ) which imports both Garrett and Holset. And Holset was significantly cheaper...€900 vs. €1400.

Pete it sounds more like the guy was making that statement re the 80's tech in regards to comparing the KKK 26 v's what he has to offer, rather than GTbb v's Holset? He sells both so I can't see why he'd rubbish the GTbb turbo? I didn't think they had been around since then either, GTbbs that is.

That statement is puzzling to me as well.
I couldn't see the newer garrett stuff being even as dated as the Holset. If you get a chance ask him what he is exactly referring to (compressor wheel, turbine, bearings??). I would be very interested to see what his response is.
Comparing to the journal bearings I would agree for reasons mentioned above not so sure for the BB's
