Pete’s car powertrain, suspension, brakes etc. will be installed into another Gruppe951 member road/track car. This car suffered headgasket failure at the end of September. Here it is waiting for treatment at my place.
Last Friday car was moved to Gruppe951 workarea to meet a donater
Saturday morning it was still quite peaceful
Herr Doktor Pete prepare the donater to give it’s heart
As an assistant doctor once again was our friend and Gruppe951 menber Neva, a man with small hands, so he’s most suitable to work with 951’s
I was away only couple of hours and Pete & Neva had ”destroyed” also Heikki’s 951
Herr Doktor Pete examine the patient
Almost out
Neva decided to remove the rear axle
Finally out
After rear axle was removed it was transmissions and transaxles turn to get some treatment
Neva makes some inspections
coming out
When all rear undercarriage parts were out, we bolted on new parts taken from Pete’s car back. .
These came out
Pete’s parts under Heikki’s 951
Saturday night fever ended at this point. I managed to get home just in time to read bedtime stories for two youngest ones (can be seen at the pictures). After that it was time for some relaxing Sauna and couple of good german beer’s
On Sunday morning Pete was an early bird . I was capable to come on afternoon, because I (or Peter & Arno, my sons) had to meet Santa Claus who visited my home town. During the few hours session we managed to do all kind of small things. Check out the picture, here’s all necessary parts how to turbocharge your 944 n/a.
Then we removed fuel from both cars. Now I have enough fuel to drive over a month
First we removed fuel from Pete’s car
Pete checks out that everything goes properly
´Then the same thing with Heikki’s car
We also packed Pete’s trailer. Here’s few parts Pete took to his home garage for little maintenace.
Some damaged oem and Gruppe951 glassfibre products
After i skated to home in this winters worst snow storm, i just had to move two hours snow, so i was able to drive my car to my driveway
To be continue

Nice story
BTW it is a snow storm outside here in Stockholm, driving an Audi Quattro with spiked winter tires it's sooo frustrating with all the "Captain Slow" panicing at the first snow

So the running gear's destiny is now known, and also the chassis may live too, some interest has been in the air.

My eldest son is interested to buy Pete’s car. He is just now serving at the finnish military, so he just needs to sell his current car to have a project financed. Since we have a lot of “left over” 951 parts available, we have played with the idea to use some sheetmetal (front, rear & rear side windows) from this 968 body installed into Pete’s car. Then we don’t need to pay the finnish car taxes which are the third highest in the world. So what might be the future project is a 968 Turbo RS clone….
A friend of mine is very capable to do all kind of tricky sheet metal work, so it shouldn’t be too complicated project. Here’s couple of examples of his work
A 1930 rod (steel body)
A 1958 Chevy Stepside
A 968 shell is owned by one of our friends and he can sell it quite attractive price.
BTW Gustafs (Duke) engine is originally from this 968

We dropped down and pulled away transmission and transaxle with two floorjacks, much easier than separating those under the car. Next time ( if there ever be next time ) I might try to drop engine, transaxle and transmission in one piece. Just put wheeled tray under the engine ( use an egine lift to drop it ) , and a jack with an adapter under the transmission.
I know, chassis can be separated from the complete running gear too, but we did not have a lifter for that...
