I don't believe it to be a scam. The respray is a terrible one...nothing removed and seams painted over. Interior is picture presentable at best and guards red is among the worst colors for a 928. That coupled with the rolled back odometer and automatic transmission...I can see why no one has bitten on this

it’s not a scam unless the guy has the car, and just does not intend to sell it. He FaceTimed me with the car. Sorry I posted it. Seemed like a pretty good deal but after discussions with another RL member decided it wasn’t for me.

Price development according to condition notes according to Classic Data market analysis / appraisal

One is bestCONDITION 1
Immaculate condition. No defects, damage or signs of wear on the technology and the optics. Completely and perfectly restored top vehicle. Like new (or better*). Very rare.

A vehicle that you approach enthusiastically and in which you cannot find any defects even on closer inspection. The basis for the assessment of condition grade 1 is the assumed condition when it was first delivered, i.e. the former new vehicle condition of the corresponding manufacturer.

CONDITION 2
Good condition. Free of defects, but with slight (!) signs of wear. Either rare, good unrestored original condition or professionally restored. Technically and visually perfect with slight signs of wear.

A vehicle that you approach enthusiastically, but on which you will find slight signs of wear on closer inspection. These slight signs of wear should be reflected in the understandable, low overall mileage or mileage after the restoration. The level of wear and tear on the technology is correspondingly low.

CONDITION 3
Used. Vehicles without major technical and visual defects, fully roadworthy and roadworthy. No rusting through. No immediate work necessary.

A vehicle that you approach and, on closer inspection, easily recognize signs of wear and various minor defects. The signs of wear and defects should be reflected in the traceable total mileage or mileage after a restoration. The degree of wear and tear of the technology is corresponding to this.

CONDITION 4
Used condition. Only partially drivable. Immediate work for successful acceptance according to § 29 StVZO is necessary. Slight to medium rusting through. Vehicle complete in the individual assemblies but not necessarily undamaged.

A vehicle that you approach and in which various defects can be seen from a distance. A closer inspection reveals clear signs of wear

CONDITION 5
Condition in need of restoration. Vehicles in poor, not roadworthy overall condition. Extensive work required in all assemblies. Vehicle not necessarily complete.

A vehicle in which even the layman immediately recognizes obvious defects and/or missing parts. Could also be used as a parts carrier.

I translated the rules and describings of Classic Data above. I'm sure the NA market has equally notes.

*Thanks to today's technical possibilities (e.g. welding work, computer-aided measuring techniques) as well as the changed materials (e.g. paint, surface refinement) and extensive corrosion protection, a completely restored vehicle can exceed the condition of the first delivery.

Condition, originality and history are evaluated independently by the visiting motor vehicle expert and are included in the valuation.

That's such a flattering shot of an OB.
A solid argument for those who feel that the wing-less, spoiler-less bodies look the best (I might be one of them). If that car didn't have rubbies, it would be among the best 928 OB pics I've seen.

oh I’m 100% one of them too. I love the silhouette of OBs - and agree on the rub strips. Still, if it was a manual, I’d likely be bidding on that car.

Very nice car, but I'm a spoiler guy. To me, without front and rear spoilers they just look old. With the OEM front spoiler and some type of rear spoiler, they look classic, but sportier & cooler. To each their own.

the OB with no spoilers or rubs is the purest version of the design, imo. i had a white '78 with no spoilers/rubs (euro version with 16" dials) and i still think that's the best color on the best body of the entire run. it's fine that it looks old. as a matter of fact, consider that design in '78 and what was available at the time. it should be more amazing that the original is 45 years old this year.
