I'm looking at buying a1988 928 S4 in very good condition. Auto. Guards Red. 82K KM, which is about 55K miles. Everything works. Well serviced. Not tracked. Everything checks out. It's not perfect, but very good and a straight car. Looking for the acceptable price range for this car. Thanks in advance!
Many factors to consider here...and dependent on what geographic market you are buying in. Has the crank end play been checked/measured? Last time TB/WP was replaced? History report available? A good PPI could help better determine price.

P.S. It has the jump post cover and rain shield so it can't be all that bad

Ok - just got back. Car wouldn't start. Said it's probably due to the head gasket. It was his father's car, who has since passed away, and he is looking to sell to help pay for college. He really didn't know much if anything about the car. He said he was going to get it started and actually drive it to my house. A bunch of picturesPreview attachment IMG_4328.jpg

Nice 78 on BAT. No sunroof, no rubbies, manual seats, 86k miles.

Here are better pics of that 89 GT. Paint is pretty bad, but the body is straight with nary a ding. Interior is rough in all of the usual places. Couple floor carpet pieces Missing. Some sort of monstrous kenwood aftermarket system installed in yesteryear. But, the sport seats rock even if the drivers bolster is showing the usual wear.

New battery
New radiator but not sure if it’s origin .
some new hoses
tires look almost new
starts/runs/moves under its own power.

Confirmed 89 GT
this will be on my back burner unless someone here really wants it.
too many projects; but I couldn’t stand to see this thing rotting away.

some pics: some of it is sky reflection, but rest assured, there is plenty of clear coat flaked off on the front.

Wow...someone needs to save this one. Sport Seats!!!!

Edit..if there is clear coat flaking off, then it's likely a repaint as the original black was single stage. Either way, probably one of the best 928's to put money into if you are looking at long-term value...

well, I bought it. I couldn’t stand to see it rotting away. It’s here at the house now tucked away and on the back burner. If someone else is super interested; I’m open minded.

Sport Seats and LSD!

I’ve got two project cars ahead of it.

Congrats. From the engine number I'm guessing one of the earlier 89 GT's. Did you confirm the head gasket issue?

Not yet. I have a test kit; but I have one coolant line with a blatant leak that I have to replace first.

I will report back to the group once done. For what it’s worth; car is not overheating; no white from the tail pipe; and no “milk in the oil”. However; the coolant cap doesn’t seat tight. Again, once buttoned up; I’ll report back.

As it is, if I keep it; this will be an engine out refresh.

The paint is dead but the interieur looks in descent shape. The driver seat has a hole but no sun burning like many cars from the south.
Could be a nice daily driver with fun factor!
