P/N for GTS wheels are different due to the RDK holes. 965.362.164.05 for fronts, 965.362.168.00 for rears. ET's are identical.
Interesting the part numbers appear to be identical for both solid and drilled for RDK sensors as it is listed in all the PET's for 964 turbo/968 and 928 models. The solid 9's I have show the 965.362.168.00 p/N and same as listed on the BaT auction. I will pull mine in a few weeks when I finally wake my car up from hibernation and double check but it would appear these were drilled and RDK sensors added since. I need to replace some of the plastic caps on mine and will see if any pictures will tell us more.
These used to be dirt cheap and now are highly coveted.
Nate I think it was you who brought this one up on this thread about a month ago when I started my search. There was some question about which issue the ghetto red cable across the radiator is intended to fix. I contacted the seller to ask if the flexplate/TB/crank play had been looked at and he was clueless; not 928-knowledgeable. Is it 'fair game' to bring this up in the BAT thread?
One more question. Did the S4s come with these cup wheels? Or with the manhole covers, which I really, really like much better than these. To me, the MHCs give it an air of sophisticated autobahn-burner...
Luis,
I think you're going to find that unless they have been on this forum the flexplate/TB/crank play issue is going to be Greek to them. Since our last conversation, I've tried in my area, with no luck, to find someone to do the check on my car. When I get access to my friends lift, I'll do the check myself and hope I don't screw anything up (still not keen on dropping the exhaust to do the check).
Mike

Crank end play and water pump/tb changes are basics for 928 auto maintenance history, because ignoring their history may cause catastrophic engine failure. Think of rabies/immunization histories for pets/people. Most will be ok, but important history to know since it may be deadly!
However, some here would say that since the mileage is low but not low enough to blow off TBF, it should be considered before bidding. Some would argue that engines less than 80-90k miles should not have TBF, but there are cases with less miles I am sure. This being an '88, do you trust the mileage?
The cup I's may be duplicates for 911/968 without the right offsets. S4 either came with staggered MHCs (8,9) or later D90s.
Is TBF an issue for all auto 928s or just the 4-speed autos?
And while I'm on an auto topic.... Do they all start in second gear or was that also only on the 4-speed autos?
TBF can affect all 928s to some degree but it is more prevalent in the later models without the c clip on the end of the drive shaft. Starting IIRC 1985.
Only the later 87+ 4 speed autos start in second gear. The earlier ones start in first.

That ghetto red cable is possdibly the power to the ABS unit, which is usually in the front engine harness, and terminates on a really annoying plastic block below the power steering reservoir.

There is a nice set of S4 manhole covers on eBay right now. Planets may be aligning :-)
Showing center vent temperatures of 40s and 50s is not proof that your A/C works. Quite the opposite in fact. If your center vent temperature isn’t in the 30s don’t bother with the picture.

+1
Around here, 50 degrees out the vent is a heater!!!

The part numbers are different...the BAT auction 968 wheels are P/N's 965.362.124.05 for fronts, 965.362.128.00 for rears. These are also the P/N's listed in PET for the 968. Looks like Porsche changed the 2 to a 6 for the 8th digit to differentiate the RDK wheels. You can see where the RDK sensor mounts in the wheel that mounting blocks were cast in the mold, then machined/drilled after. These cast blocks are not present in the pictures of the 968 wheels on BAT, therefore they could not be retrofitted to accept RDK sensors.
