This is a re-list after the car previously sold on BaT in September and the winning bidder failed to follow through with his commitment to purchase. That buyer has been banned from any further participation in BaT Auctions and his buyer fee was not refunded.
Would love to sell this to a Rennlister! I probably should have brought it here first, but I wasnt thinking. I do enjoy the banter about can can red interior ... it is so outrageous. Who knows, BaT has been pretty slow lately, you might just get it for $9928.
I am helping a friend sell his red 82 5-speed with the comp package and full leather interior. It is a super nice, 73k mile, 2-owner, original blue plate (means the original plates issued by CA in 82) car. The car was delivered in Germany to the American buyer when new. Obviously its a US spec car, but it has the orange Euro spare tire compressor and Euro road reflector so it could be driven in Europe. The car is complete and original, except for one very nice repaint in its orignal Ed red. Even has the original Blaupunkt readio that works. I have all the paperwork back to its European delivery paperwork. All the services are up to date (new TB/WP, tires, cam seals, AC service, shift coupler and ball cup, no leaks or weeps anywhere), and the previous owners were meticulous about maintenance from the receipts. The car runs and drives superb - it needs nothing. Here is a link to a few crappy pics from my iPhone, but its condition is evident. I still have a few details to attend to, like a new hood liner and Greg's fuel lines should arrive today, but I can offer the car now for $17,500.
Wow, this one did not sell on BAT or eBay at $53,900!
Zermatt Silver over Magenta with 48,000 miles. No maintenance history, Japanese origin and appearing to be in great condition cosmetically.
I wonder where it will turn up next?
Was it the fact that it was in Canada? Automatic? The color of the interior?
Has the very cool headlight adjusters which are typical of Japanese market cars.
I think a mix of:
-Values in Canada are lower (30 million people vs 300 million and an economy that's in the tank)
-Quebec cars are notorious for issues especially when they have come from another country or province
-It's obviously had paint work since it's missing the bumper reflectors and front fender flares
-Typically Japanese cars are worth at least 20% less up here as they never come with any history and are usually in rough shape
-US buyers are scared of the importation process aka "Canada is the moon syndrome"
-Interior colour
-GTS buyers are generally looking for perfect cars as investments, a Japanese car is a bad investment
