Exactly! Many say my 928 can be beaten many times over in it's current state by Supra's, well running tuned 240SX's, old lightly tuned Fox.0 Stangs', GTI's, or what you will, but that's not the point...

Taters gonna tate.

oh and to M928 i just wanted to say:

I'm also seeing alot of new Camaro's and Challengers around than ever before. I think they look alright but to me the new muscle cars are way out of scale with the old muscle cars they're trying to mimic. They're big boat type cars, i mean, i know every car was huge back then because nobody cared as much about gas prices, but the old Challenger/Camaro were fairly small cars weren't they? The styling of the new ones seems to be very aggressive "puffed out chest-look-at-me" type cars.

They are bigger boat type but at least the handling is getting better even thou the size is bigger.Just glad they are adding the horsepower to compensate for the weight. At least they are using the name and the cars look closer to the old days compared to what they did back like in 1974 Mustang 2's went to 4 cyl and didn't look like a Mustang just like the mid 1980's Charger Turismo that
was 4 cylinder that was basically an Omni Horizen.
Its almost like the Panamera if they would of used the 928 name it would of been the boat of the old 928!
On the aggressive look, they do stand out but at least they offer HP now to match it as a few years back when the Mustang,Challenger and Camaro came out the HP was kind of low compared to the size of the car.

The GTR hasn't been around that long as its running some great times with mods one has just went into the high 8's in 1/4 mile and many in the low 9's....
the transmissions are garbage and Nissan uses onboard computer data to void the warranties.... in other words, you're not allowed to peel out. even once. despite that they advertise tight 0-60 times, etc....

so you're stuck footing the bill for a new transmission. it's a problem

The new XKR looks good and it has 500+ supercharged HP. The wheel base 10" inches more, width 2 more and weight about the same. It's motor is the AJ v8 used is several vehicles. Tbird, Lincoln, rover. Its current displacement 5.0 is about it for that block. It looks a little better driving by than on paper.

The trans were junk when they first came out.
10k to 20k to build a better one still ads up to 50k to 60k less than TTS

Do you think if you buy a 997TT and go to the drags or track the car and break something they will warrany it,ask a dealer before you go see what he says. Most car makers have some sort of flaw, nothing againt our 928's but I am sure the 1st year of early 928 GTS connecting rods weren't meant to be junk too and after were corrected. How about aluminum ball joints they were junk but later changed.Too bad after they got the car sorted out they quit making it in 95 but hardley anyone wanted to pay the big price for it or maybe more would of sold.It takes time to perfect or almost perfect a car.Japanesse sport bikes are close to or perfected, maybe because of bean counters trying to save or a car not tested long enough who knows;I would hope to see the GTR will be later on also.

I agree- they don't look like tossable ponycars to me! But what I really think of is what those flat, vertical body panels (Challenger particularly) will likely look like after a few years of parking lot wars. Still hope they do a 'Cuda, though...

Good thing the very high HP cars are limited production....Insurance comapnies are guarding against losses like everyone else, would hate to see that door close agian like it did in the late sixties, narrowing everyone's choices. So I read, at least..

I got a test drive of the new XKR-S round Knockhill track here in Scotland. Very impressive and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We'll never know if a 20 year old one could lap as fast as my 20 year old 928, but it was fun. Not as much of a GT compared to the 928, more sports then touring. Maybe in 15 years when the price drops I'll look again.

I have bought a 2003 996 Turbo to help relive the pressure of miles on the 928 ( she's at 191,000 ). Again more sport than GT, but that's what the 928 is for just now. Best of both worlds just now.

Lee, Thanks for the info. If the dealership here gets one in I'll ask for a test drive. I wished it was on a track, that would be perfect.

The 996 Turbo, excellent choice. That's a great one to use for keeping the miles low on our 928's. I'm waiting for the owner of a local 01 to get tired of his. Hard to think that car is over 10 years old. I'll have to do some research on the 00-04's before I purchase.

Drove a 2010 4.7L Maser GT this past Sat... MAN WHAT A CAR! I just LOVE THEM! I will have one some day! The one I drove had about 25k miles on it, but still looked damn near new! Great car! $89k was/is a bit high, but super nice!

The big sports manufacturers over here offer what they call a "driving experience". They hire a track and give you a pro driver to coach you in their cars (they then sell them as ex-demonstrators, but that's another thread). You can pay for it, or if you can convince a dealer you are interested in buying a new car they sometimes offer it free. Porsche have a permanent track day experience at Silverstone.

Loads of info' on the 996 turbo forum here on rennlist. Simon Buckley got a 996 turbo to add to his 928 for Christmas from his wife. She logged in using his login and asked for advice. He then posted a thread called "Best wife in the world" thanking everyone who helped advise her on what to buy for him.

There will be no cars after my three 928 Strosek, those cars will always be there. However I may consider extending the collection. This toy is for sale in Germany, seems fun to have.

Acouple of videos testdriving the car.

DO IT RANDY! That is what I did last weekend! I can't say enough good things about those cars! They are amazing! They are not brutally fast, but they are well faster than our 928's (even my GTS's) and they are SO comfortable yet still sporty and they just look AMAZING!!!!

You can actually fit real adult size people in the back seat and there is still a generous trunk! I just love them! I want one so bad I can hardly stand it!

The exhaust notes vary WILDLY from year to year and if they are a sport edition or not, so be sure to ask about that if the sales person does not mention it. Also, they have the regular ZF auto tranny and the (I think) more troublesome F1 style tranny...not sure if they have full on manual tranny's these days. I kind of doubt it.
