In the US, the ZF auto is the only transmission option for the Gran Turismo. The F1 transaxle is still available in other markets though. Maserati no longer offers a manual option in any of their cars.

Default Gran Turismo

This is the solution. This car really embodies everything now that the 928 represented in the 80's. I just wish it had a sunroof. This is the actual car Randy will be testing tomorrow. It even looks great un detailed and dusty as it is now.

Mike that Maser is spectacular! I just LOVE them!!! One of these days....ONE OF THESE DAYS! I can't wait! Love RED GTS's too btw! I think of all the red 928's the GTS looks best of all in red! Not saying that is the best color for the GTS, but it is a damn good one!

Mike came by today and we took his Maserati Gran Turismo for a run through the twisties of Elfin Forest.

Thanks, Mike!

So, what did you think about the GT?

I think they look awesome in black too! Not much on black or really even dark cars in general, but the GT looks AWESOME in the darker colors. That said, I have seen a white and a "guards" red that both looked pretty bad A$$ too though!

Randy did you get to do the driving?! Hope so! They are SO FUN TO DRIVE! I really want to spend some more quality time in one personally! I only have about 45 min of drive time in them, and that is not nearly enough!

Absolutely.

I drove on the outbound leg - that video is Mike driving back.

The car handles very much like the GTS but even more of a riding-on-rails feel.

The paddle shifters allow very precise engine braking into the corners.

Overall, I could definitely see this as my next car, just not right now as the GTS should be a new beautiful beast after all the engine and paint work post-fire.

+1 on the Maserati-- I finally had the chance to ride in one a few weeks back. Came away much more impressed than I thought I'd be. Seems like it really embodies the spirit of a GT car, much as the 928s did in their day.

If you are willing to own one without a warranty wait 2-3 years and you will be able to buy a nice example for $40-$50K. Maserati depreciation is right up there with Jaguar. Neither the 4200 or the Quattroporte have been able to buck that trend, and it appears that the GT is following a similar path down.
