I had a chance to sit in an R8 at an auto show. I really didn't like the cockpit--very small/cramped. I guess my opinion might change a bit if I took one for a spin.

Dan, I agree with you. The place where you sit is very comfortable, but you are very aware that there is a wall right behind you... I didn't get that same feeling with the Gallardo or 430 Scud, so that struck me as a bit odd. The car is very easy to drive and very well balanced but the V8 version is not dramatic or awe inspiring in any way. Sort of boring. When compared to say a Gallardo, or Scud or even a Maser GranTurismo it just seems a bit underpowered and under fun. Safe and well built but just... blah.

I suspect the V10 is a whole different animal! I think the open version would be completely different as well and probably MUCH more engaging!

Test drove a 2012 Turbo S yesterday.Long distance driving not sure how it would be.Now I realize how comfortable my 928 is.The search for something fast, smooth and comfortable is still on or is this why some of you own multiple 928's some stock some modfied etc.

Epic bragging rights, and I'm sure it is very potent..but styling fail in my book.

Interior cheesed out with stainless (I hope) or chrome and carbon fiber- looks like a kid got hold of a Mustang..except for the seats...actually, I guess it is the center console controls and air vents that I don't like. And binnacle, but mostly air vents adn center console.

Outside is Jag/Saturn Sky/Viper type of thing.

No replacement for my 928, although there is going to be an incremental one in my future...with a 5-speed.

The SLS is a strong candidate to eventually replace or supplement my M6, a colleague of mine just got one and it is phenomenal to drive.
