Chris,

Personally if you can get R12 and you are confident of a continuing supply, I would stick with what the system was designed for on your car i.e. R12.

You may recall that Wally P posted a little while back that the EPA in the States is moving against 134a, so if you can bridge the gap with a reliable resupply of R12, there is the answer.

I believe 2nd hand R12 charging gauge sets can be obtained cheaply?

On the fence re: 134 v. 12. Have both, not sure which way to go. More reading to do.
Chris,
I looked for you at SITM. Hope you make it next year. Let us know what freon you choose. When I get around to AC I will follow your lead. Gunar

Replaced the Temp Gauge sensor on the water bridge. I removed the cross bar, placed rags around the nfg sensor, prepped the new one and did a quick swap. Didn't leak much coolant. Temp readings returned to normal.

Reassembled the Cam Towers with new seals, etc.

Waiting for the head torque to settle before I install them.

Maybe tomorrow.

Got Radiator Fan #2 running again. Multiple shorts in wiring harness caused by sloppy wire routing from some PO. The 15 Amp fuse was blown too. Fixed shorts, re-wrapped and routed harness correctly. Put in correct 30 Amp fuse and now both fans work as expected. With the new Fan Shroud and Fans working the operating temps have dropped 10+ degrees lower.

Lifted the engine 2-3 inches and slid the starter in place and installed the electrical.

Drove it 3 miles and parked it after an adventure at SITM 2011. 1200 miles and lots of smiles!

Used the rear wing as a shelve.

Thanks!
She paints all my stuff. I compensate her well

Lets just say I "Married WAY ABOVE my pay grade" and leave it at that.

EDIT: Oh, and what I did to my 928 today: I put 17 more gallons of Ethanol in the tank.

Continued with Cam Tower assembly, including the Cam gears.

For those who are interested.

Using 32V Cam Gear, Spider (ala PorKen) and Rotor trim Timing ring along with 32V Cam Hall sensor on my 16V, to add Cam Home signal for upcoming EMS upgrade. This was the easiest way to get the Cam Home signal to add True Sequential Fuel Injection.

Installing Cam Towers after it cools off a bit today.

Default Oil change

Changed oil in gearbox. (5-speed)
This is what the magnetic drain plug looked like. And the oil was very dark.
Is this normal wear? I have no idea when the oil was changed last time.

One Cam Tower on.

The other head still didn't settle. Will give it 24 hours and check the torque. If it's all good, the other Cam Tower will go on tomorrow.

Bought a TON of new trim & crap from 928int, bout Skarkwoofer, a 928 Watch (Serial number 18..I was 18 when mine was machined from pure unicorn horns)..and uhh..stuff from Nicole at HOC, detailing hardware and materials from Autogeek..

What I cant do:

Order the new front speakers.
Order new latest window switch panel update yet
Order the carputer kit

...Hopefully they come up before I spend the rest of my 6mo savings allotment on hookers and cocaine.
