Pulled the engine, fixed the galley leak and reinstalled. 12 hours. All by myself.

Well....recently did the ignition switch, pod off etc - starting was becoming intermittent. Couple of test drives, OK. Fixed some poor contacts on teh pod connectors.
yesterday, go out, no crank....same symptom from before the switch replacement. Curses!
Might be the neutral switch on the box (3spd), jack it up, stands. More curses - this will need some exhaust removal. lets explore the wiring path .....ooohhhh there is a relay involved here....
Remove and refit, no go. Spare 53 on the bench - YES! Put that in - it goes!
Reminder to self - next time there is ANY issue, look for the simple solution FIRST !!!
But since the switch change and connector cleanup, she runs sweeter than ever, seriously smoother, more responsive, so it was well worth doing.

I use a method for Broken Water Pump Studs that I learned from my grampa who was a Certified Chevrolete Mechanic (class of 1936) that could help make the stud removal a less daunting task. You use two 10mm nuts to back up while your removing the broken stud.
He used the old Seal and a plastic hammer to 'Pop' the new front seal into place. He used very little effort to perform the insertion.
His weekend tuneup was to pull the engine and do a valve job for folks he new if they paid in cash and were trust worthy.
This was his second job which he performed on each weekend for two decades.
My job was to pull the motor and reinstall. After we had serviced close to 100 in the 2 years that I lived with him I assumed everyone else pulls the engine to do a proper tune up... So that is exactly what I'm doing today.

Not, today. But yesterday went to the Coronado speed festival here in San Diego, pulled into the PCA-SD region club lot in my Range Rover, with a car club and corral pass, and was told I could not park there as i wasn't driving a Porsche - moved it to the off road 4x4 area and enjoyed rest of the day!
Probably would have got the same reception if I had driven one of the 928's anyway!
Now up to Anaheim on the 8th, where we get respect!

Hi,
All packed and ready to go to my mechanic for a long time, complete clutch system replacement (intermediate and pressure plates, discs, servo and master cylinders, release bearing, etc, etc.), complete replacement of rubber fuel lines with Roger’s kit, replacement of all gearbox synchro rings plus the usual and normal stuff like oil and filter, fuel filter, etc.
Thank you very much Roger! You’re the Man!
Since the day my clutch “died” I haven’t drive the car. Of course that all this time the weather as been excellent, still is and I’m sure it will be UNTIL I have the car ready! I really miss driving it but the first part is done, I have all the stuff I need! Now waiting for the second part, my mechanic has the time to take the car and the third and best part when it will be ready! Can’t wait…..
Regards

spent last night stitching new leather on the steering wheel, and will be doing the same tonight. this has been a bit more time consuming than I had initially anticipated, but it should be worth it when I get it finished.

I added some "Dike" stop leak for the coolant system this morning (developed a weepy leak near upper R side plastic rad end tank about a week ago). Drove it roughly 50 miles with several in-between stops & there was not a single drop of coolant lost. It'll be interesting to see how well it works over 6 months or so-I've read some positive things about it.
