Default A little progress

Howdy,

I rarely post here as it seems like one thing as always leads to another.

I have been working toward putting a replacement motor back in, but the slope has taken its toll.

Finishing up the upper bits of the suspension this week. Will do the lower A arms after the engine is installed and running. Today the rest of the shock hardware will get addressed and hopefully assembled tomorrow.

Had the DWS Connies on it since I've had it....about 10 years....what a difference! Never going back. Put them on the Subie also...what a terrific difference in the handling/turning precision from those Michelin sidewalls. 17" wheels on Cruella makes these tires very affordable...at about $820 full set mounted balanced new valve stems etc.

I took delivery on my '80 928! 31k miles with original dealer (Porsche+Audi Manhattan) invoice, and only a very few needs.

Original mocha brown paint, but mislabeled at the factory as schwarzmetallic. I now have a note from rennbow asserting it really is a factory-mislabeled car.

Sunroof cables..guides..transmission and motor are in. Unfortunately, one adjustment screw on the sunroof panel is missing. Must have lost it at the body shop?? But..i did manage to get both cables to move equally. Just need the screw to install than panel.

Polished the instrument cluster and started to install speakers. Also fixed passenger side window motor. It works now for the first time since I got this car.

Before

...and after.

Bought another one - wasn't even looking. '81 Euro 5-speed with an M28-22 motor and K-Jet. Needs a new interior, but runs great.

Now have Ebony and Ivory

I'll start a separate thread on it.

How to make your oil cap look new?

First, I soaked it in a solution of hydrogen peroxide and denture whitening tablets overnight. Then, I scrubbed it
with some oxi-clean laundry detergent with a little bit of Comet cleaner. And for a satin look, I then coated with
a thin layer of flat-clear paint. Finally, I threw the old cap in the trash and bought a new one for fifteen bucks.
