Went to PCA car control clinic at Fort Devens And then auto crossing....in the pouring rain! Was fun, turned into a quasi drifting run. The GT did well but would have been more fun without the rain.
Installed new wheels and tires. Although I perfer the look of the turbo twists, IMHO, the 17s fit the wheelwell better and won't rub.
New wheels washed and sealed.
Rear: Old (295/18 series) vs new (265/17 series). Beware, if you decide to go with a wide tire, I have a few signs of rubbing on the inside rear wells on both sides
Installed and suspension settled. Just need to clean the center caps.
Cleaned fuse panel and relays with Deoxit to get my HVAC fan working again (success). Also added a powered FM antenna so I could get radio station reception (black box at the top of the windshield on the Passenger side). I had been using only USB and Bluetooth up until today. Now I get the 4 strongest local stations. Extra challenging since my 928 is a convertible.
I adjusted the oil deflector because oil was pouring out of the vent and replaced the rear cover gasket but not before stripping the torx head bolts and dropping the gas tank to remove them. Now that I removed the gas tank I changed the top sender seal, repaired rust and repainted tank spider bracket, rubber pump standoffs, cleaned sender connections with Deoxit 100, and also replaced
the broken Y at the charcoal canister.
Did the first test ride after the five speed conversion! Awesome car. Feels like a racer. S2 Engine and GT gearbox are the perfect match!
Shift point is in all gears at 6.000 rpm, next gear starts at 4.000 rpm.
S4 brakes are a lot better to!
Doing distributor caps and ignition rotors tonight on my 928. I may also pull the fuel rails and finally put my 24lb injectors in depending on time. I've been in that engine compartment so much it's probably a 30 min job at the most to pull the rails now.
Clutch with new TOB and new discs installed. Still have to remove the U shaped spacers. Engine wiring harness is in, sheathed in fiberglass and routed to alt, starter and oil pressure. New power steering reservoir to pump hose and banjo fitting from my napa machine shop installed. Power steering pump and alternator installed. My rear hatch struts gave out today. They fought well.
Well, I have a sheite ton of parts in hand, and things to do, but since my car is a DD, I actually did do something other than add 93 octane gas, I installed a brand new pair of windshield wiper blades today.🍗
...edit, 19 inch blades, generic brand found at Menards. Cost less than 8 bucks for the pair.
