Finally took my car out on a long 55 mile drive, the first time in four months, checked the fluid levels and she started right up. I wormed up the car for a while just to be sure things were good to go and I was thinking that the ride was not going to be smooth at all from sitting for 4 months but she didn't let me down one bit. Smooth as glass.

Yesterday I replaced the alternator air duct, then fixed a coolant leak ...of my own doing. Today I removed the old out-of-gas fire extinguisher and replaced it with a new mount and extinguisher. Got a nice HalGuard model in black that matches the black vinyls and leathers and complements the tan leather interior. Since I drive Helga on the road and track, a want her to be a looker everywhere she goes!

I got my dash lights working...bad rheostat....
Next order of business is the turn signal switch replacement. If anyone has a good used one let me know or may just order a new unit which is probably the best thing to do anyways.

I measured the ride height at the locations indicated in the workshop manual.
Front left: 154 mm
Front right: 156 mm
Rear left: 154 mm
Rear right: 154 mm
I expected the front right to be high because the chin spoiler on left side strikes the wheel ramp before the left side. Glad the numbers are so consistent, but realize all are low.

Finally got back around to sorting out the charging issues on the 79. I cleaned up all the wiring going on to the alternator, cleaned up all the wires, re-soldered all the ends, and re did the wiring going to the oil pressure sensor. Oil pressure gage came up to where it should be but the alternator was still showing 10-11 volts... So I had my buddy watch the gage as I started turning the fuses in the panel. I twisted the fuse for the alternator and the needle started to jump... I looked at the terminal on the fuses and they were all pretty corroded. So out came the whole fuse panel after numbering all the relays and plugs. The panel has been soaking in CLR all day and now the contacts are all nice and clean. All the corrosion has disappeared finally. I turned the panel over to let the back side soak tonight, and then I will rinse it off with some water and baking soda, before I blow dry it off. Once it's completely dry after a day in the sun I will reinstall it and should be good to go.
Thanks to whoever posted up the how to on here(can't remember the screen name). It worked like a charm :-).
