Put in
- replacement starter
- clutch bellhousing lower hatch
- cleaned work cylinder
- modified X-Over
- new lambda wiring
- cover panels
Took it off the ramp, slept 5h, drove to MOT and - passed.
Gave her a good wash and basically been driving around - and smiling. Love this machine.

After purchasing a 1991 RHD in April, I am happy to be back in the fold. It had a broken drivers window: remove, re-grease, re-install, done. Head lights that didn't raise: re/re the relay, realized the securing tab at the fuse box was broken hence wouldn't allow the really the seat properly, unscrew it get my fingers back there, secure the relay, job done. Speedo inop, ABS+PSD light on: cleaned all sensors and senders, ordered new (quite expensive) relay, job done. Drivers door handle hinge broken: new hinge, done. Car came with no records sooooooo: checked the end play and movement on the torque tube clamp: no movement when loosened. Did a complete front engine job; timing belt, waterpump, cam seals, crank seal, oil pump seal, remove clean reseal and refill tensioner, new roller bearing and tensioner arm bushing. Pity the pumps and belts and roller bearings looked new, but for some reason the tension boot was old and cracked. The air pump was seized so took it off in hopes of rebuilding it. Cleaned and refilled the PS reservoir, now the PS is leak free and more powerful. Changed the ATF and filter and diff oil, both were clean. Finally installed new front brake pads and SS brake lines, the rears were a nightmare. I thought the car suspension felt soft and wallowy, but after driving a few days it felt firmer. I will give her and my CC a brake for a while before I play with the ride height and suspension. I cant get over how beautiful and solidly built these cars are. I just wish the gas pedal wasnt so resistant.

I am trying to find out why my coolant fans will not come on.
Fans run with direct power applied
I jump the intake sensor and the water cross over sensor, had the engine running with the AC on while depressing the hood switch but still nothing.
I have bat voltage at the top intake sensor and between pins 2 n 3 at the large round fan controller plug (frt of rad pass side) but I do not have bat voltage between pin 3 n 4 which I think I am suppose to
I havent gone through all the test yet but I thought I would ask here before I go any further.
Any ideas
Thanks
Brad

Yeah. I learned that one the hard way too. Sort of like a jack in the box without "Pop Goes the Weasel" playing.
It IS possible to get it back in. Really.
It's tedious, frustrating and somewhat hard on your hands.
It's basically the same process as rewinding a recoil starter spring on a small engine. I've done those enough that it only took 3 or 4 tries to get the spring wound and put back and the cover put on without it exploding in my face.
Google search results (you may want to look through a few of them to find what works best for you):

I ended up getting it back. Just took time and a couple iterations. The natural "fall" of the spring was a little counter-intuitive on how to wind it back in, so it was trial and error. Wish I had taken a picture to help out the next poor victim, but I was out of free hands when I finally got it back in the case like it belonged.
