More like Saturday through today for me...Pulled the motor after a broken TB only to find that my motor is not interference. Figured that while it is out, might as well go all the way and replace all gaskets, o rings, motor mounts etc....

I had been unable to solo- bleed the clutch in the GTS satisfactorily about a month ago, so the car has been sitting. With Doc Brown's help today, we had it bled perfectly in about 5 minutes. Can't wait for a test drive to see whether another 2mm off the clutch master piston is enough to get full release....
Don't have a clutch hydraulic circuit that needs bleeding (self-contained system in the auto-box) but I am interested in it for future/others.

Pretty simple, really. Fill the brake MC with fresh fluid, attach a catch bottle to the clutch slave nipple, have a 7mm box-end wrench handy. Fluid flow is just by gravity and pedal action. Person in the car wraps a rope around the clutch pedal so one can pull it back up. With the bleed valve open, in-car person pumps the pedal a few times, while person underneath relieves the spring pressure on the release arm, through the adjustment hole. Then close the bleeder and release the arm. Top up the MC reservoir. Don't know why this works, but it works. Want a ride in the stroker now that it'll actually shift? ![evilgrin](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/evilgrin.gif)
I like the Motive bleed bottles for brake/clutch bleeding. The hose seals perfectly on all 928 bleeders, and they're essentially spill-proof (ask me how I know...)

The magic number for clutch master cylinder piston length on a dual disc setup is 74.75 mm.

Left for a few errands this morning, and was **almost** stranded by the car about half a mile drive from the house. AT shift cable broke. Gear lever felt funny, so I stopped and ran it through the gears at a stop on the street. Mistake!! The broken cable was able to push the trans into Park OK, but wouldn't get it out into any other gears. Fortuntely a residential street, unfortunately pretty steep. Put rocks under the rear tires. set the parking brake hard, and managed to get it out of Park and into reverse by banging on the trans arm with the tow hook out of the tool set. Backed up to where it was a little flatter and onto a driveway apron to make more room underneath, and got it into Drive and back home.
I think the car knows that it has a lift at home in the garage now. That little look-see project from a couple days ago included mapping out a plan to lower the exhaust and clean some heat shields; now that's a reality as part of the shaft cable replacement I think. So need to get the parts on order and plan the project for when I get back home again I guess. Meanwhile, it will rest quietly with the battery disconnected.
For those that have done this before, the WSM procedure includes lowering the trans and tourque tube some. Wally's guidance on Greg N's tips page says to follow the old cable out with a piece of heavy wire, and use that to pull the new cable into place. The only mention Wally makes is to "Loosen intermediate muffler shield and push aside." Anybody BTDT with other guidance?

Nothing, absolutely nothing. But I did finally get around to starting a thread on Garage Journal about my shop redo, a project in part inspired by learning about Jack Olsen's "The 12-gauge Garage" which was mentioned here on the 'list. Sure are a lot of Porsche guys over there. Here's the link to my project:
