So what did you do to your 928 Today......

Installed the passenger side 85/6 manifold pipe onto an 84 Euro 5spd.
This required expanding slightly the holes to accomodate slight spacing difference for the #1 and #4 cylinder manifold bolts.
(These manifolds have slots for cylinders #2 and #4, else they would also require the treatment)
The 85/6 manifolds have pipes that are 3mm larger diameter for each cylinder than the MSDS being replaced, plus are stainless steel.

My car needs to go to the annual inspection (sort of like MOT) next week, so I though it was a good time to check where all the oil leaks were coming from.
I read on the forum that it was common to see the bolts of the oil-pan a littlle loose. Well, on my 86.5 they were all VERY loose.
Cleaned everything up with degreaser and tightend the oil pan bolts (some were a bit tricky to get to, and I had to remove the mounting bolts from the starter).
Also a hose of the power steering to the reservoir was leaking/'sweating' oil. I cut the leaky bit off, and put a nice new hose with steel coupler on it from the local hydraulics shop.
Put a piece of cardboard under the car to check for other leaks, but it seems all leaks are gone!! really great result for a few hours wrenching.
Finally I replaced the CV boots on the right driveshaft. It was a fairly easy job, but extremely dirty with all the black grease. Had to use a 3-arm puller to remove the CV joint, it was very tight on the axle.
I took the CV joint apart off course before clamping the puller on, to avoid damage to the bearing-***** and cage of the CV joint.
Is it nomal that the CV's are so hard to remove?? Or should I have heated the inner part of the CV to remove it from the axle??
Anyhow, with a little persuasion I manage to replace both boots so it will be good for the next years to come.
Now... it is time for a well earned icecold beer!
Cheers
Michel

I took the bright red door inserts out of the Burgundy '84 (they really didn't go with that car anyway...not sure why someone ordered a Burgundy car with black/Can-Can interior?!) and moved them over to EURO85! Pics will follow. Also Tim S came over and took the Can-Can red seats out of the '84 and is going to recover them for me with black vinyl...just couldn't afford the leather kit right now. So EURO85 is getting more red accents inside to go with its Guards Red exterior (set of 4 floor mats in Can-Can are on the way I hope!) and the Burgundy car is going from Black/Can-Can interior to ALL BLACK interior... I bet the car will be more apt to sell that way...not to mention everything save the dash will look new. Only things left to make that car 100% are cruise control repair, electric antenna repair, dash cover of some kind and an alignment! The exterior of the '84 is STUNNING! Now the interior will be really close too! Thanks Tim!!!

Today I cleaned up some donated manhole wheels and tires and replaced old dry roted tires and stained manholes on my car- Thanks to James Morrison for the donation
I had the car aligned this week after months of suspension work, new tie rods, steering rack boots, lower ball joints. The tires that came with the car were mixed front and rear and had cracks in the side walls.
Original plan was to strip and paint silver but the wheels ahd tires on them and after the alignment I really wanted to get the better tires on the car. I used 400 grit wet dry sand paper on the donated wheels to smooth the finish and then Turtle aluminum wheel cleaner with a drill and foam pad to shine up a bit. I like the brighter look

Jim, you deserve a special medal for all the effort you have put into saving your car. Between you, Chris (Landseer), and Dean Fuller I am feeling lazy.....all I did today was top off the transmission fluid, work on the CV boot clamps, and dump a gallon of oil all over the shop floor......plus yard work and all those sorts of things....

Great work Jim! Those look MUCH, MUCH better than when they left my garage a couple of weeks ago!!! Good job! Jim, drive that over tomorrow! I want to see it live and in person!
Here are the door panels I installed and how they look relative to the exterior and the wheels. EURO85 continues to REALLY TURN HEADS I'll tell you!! What a car. I have decided that I will bring the Can-Can rear center console over to EURO85 and move the black one from EURO85 over to the '84. The red one will need to be touched up, but should look really cool in the car! I also have red floor mats (set of 4) coming in Can-Can red too! I think I will be done playing for awhile after that!

I painted the cam cover bolt caps to match the powder coated cam covers.
I also went out and tapped maple trees and hung a couple hundred buckets.
Which means now I don't have time to work on the car tonight.

James, since you are showing off your red '84, here is mine...work in progress. I like the red and black approach to the interior, it has grown on me over a black interior.....

Worked on installing new window switches from Paul ran into a couple of snags.
Then decided to pull the seats and do some spring cleaning. Found out I need a new switch for the passenger seat. Also while running the vacuum I had a piece of carpet come loose so I need to glue that back down also.

From: Back in Michigan - Full time!
Changed the coolant - ZEREX G-05. Man I hate that job becasue of the shower you have to take when you drain the heads.
I had a couple of Fumoto valves waiting in the wings so I wouldn't have to take a shower the next time I wanted to drain the heads. Unfortunately the vale portion hit the sides of the block as I screwed it down, and of course as luck would have it I didn't have a stand off! So it looks like I get to wait another 2 year before I try it again. Oh well.
