Default 928SS (Rob Rositto) passed away.

Rob Rossitto (known to many of you as 928SS) passed away on Tuesday, at home with his family. He had been battling a huge infection for the past couple of months and had exhausted all of the available antibiotics. He chose to spend the last few precious days with his family.

I met Rob when he asked me to build him a stroker engine. Over the years, we became good friends. Although he had, what I would call an impossible life, after he broke his back, I never heard him complain. He'd always have something clever to say, to brighten the day.

He drove this car aggressively, using the hand controls. He was a fierce competitior, before breaking his back (desert racing...went over a jump and landed hard. Didn't fall off. Was still riding, when he realized he couldn't feel his legs. He looked down and saw that his legs were flopping behind him.) and found that the 928 gave him the ability to enjoy his competative nature, at slaloms.

My heart is very heavy. We lost a great human!

greg brown

PS
The medical bills were very big and I'm sure his wife is left with financial ruin. Rob mentioneded that the only assets he had left were his car and the house. I have the car with the engine removed for some work. He asked me to sell the car and the engine. He said he was sure that they would loose the house. It would be great if we could do something, as a group. Ideas? Anyone interested in a great car with a "fresh" (not even completely back together) stroker engine, let me know.

Wow....he was a really cool guy. Most didn't know he was in a wheel chair.

RIP Rob.

Ugh, sorry to hear about Rob's passing. Didn't realize he was that sick. Greg, you know more about that car than I with respect to whether it'd be worth more together or parted out, but I'd be more than happy to donate time and parts to help get the car back together so it can be more easily sold. There is a metric ton of work in this car...

Very sad news.

Rob and I talked a few times just before he went into the hospital. He was starting to sort out his affairs, and I couldn't believe how quickly and seriously things progressed. Rob always seemed unstoppable, focused and going after anything. He was worried about his family, and trying to do his best to plan for them.

Rob's been on my mind for the last week, an email started and never sent because I couldn't think of what to say. I'm glad I met Rob, he was a fine person, and I'm very sad he is gone. My sympathy goes to his family, and anything that can be done for them I'm in favor of.

Wow, so sorry to hear this. Was it MRSA? My father passed away from that a couple of years ago.

Damn. Damn. I really enjoyed meeting Rob at Sharktoberfest. One of the really high points of my Sharktoberfest visits. Such a warm and entheusastic guy. He had been delt what looked like a pretty hard blow but didn't seem to dwell on it at all...just full speed ahead. Damn.

I am sorry to hear this. I never met Rob, but I always enjoyed his posts and always read them. He came across as a very nice, level-headed guy who clearly enjoyed himself.

As I've learned over the last few years: death and illness are incredibly unfair in who they choose and when.
