Wow, don't know how I missed this. Such awful news. My prayers go out to his family.
For those close to the family, when you find out what the plans are for the car, please post up. I am all ears about how I could help out.

Rob Rossitto (known to many of you as 928SS) passed away on Tuesday, at home with his family. He had been battling a huge infection for the past couple of months and had exhausted all of the available antibiotics. He chose to spend the last few precious days with his family.
I met Rob when he asked me to build him a stroker engine. Over the years, we became good friends. Although he had, what I would call an impossible life, after he broke his back, I never heard him complain. He'd always have something clever to say, to brighten the day.
He drove this car aggressively, using the hand controls. He was a fierce competitior, before breaking his back (desert racing...went over a jump and landed hard. Didn't fall off. Was still riding, when he realized he couldn't feel his legs. He looked down and saw that his legs were flopping behind him.) and found that the 928 gave him the ability to enjoy his competative nature, at slaloms.
My heart is very heavy. We lost a great human!

PS
The medical bills were very big and I'm sure his wife is left with financial ruin. Rob mentioneded that the only assets he had left were his car and the house. I have the car with the engine removed for some work. He asked me to sell the car and the engine. He said he was sure that they would loose the house. It would be great if we could do something, as a group. Ideas? Anyone interested in a great car with a "fresh" (not even completely back together) stroker engine, let me know.

I guess it took me a year to get this news. I am really sorry to hear this, Rob was an immensely good man, and while I wasn't (obviously) in constant contact with him, I have often wondered what had happened to him. I will raise a Paulaner Hefe-Weise in honour Of Rob Rossitto ... an excellent man and a true Porsche fanatic.

I also missed this the first time around, perhaps b/c I did not know him. Condolences. No one should face ruin b/c of something like this, the circumstances by themselves are devastating enough.
