Guys,
Need to get this out site~wide on Rennlist, I stumbled on it in the P&C forum.
Never met him, but enjoyed 'sparring' with him on the Politics forum. Very level headed and funny guy. He will be missed in all aspects of this community. I am not from the 928 side (951), but more than willing to help where I can...whether it be donation, or raffle TIX buy or whatever. Just let me know.
Thoughts and well wishes for his family and friends will be in our forefront.

I'm deeply saddened by his passing. I saw him a few times at Sharktoberfest and always enjoyed chatting with him. Some of his posts here were hilarious, and I will always remember him as a very strong and positive person.
It would be great, if we can put together something for his family at Sharktoberfest.

Some of the greatest humans and best buddies in my life I met through the 928 community. And even in hard times that gave me always a kinda home - wherever I've been.
Even if I never met Rob, I red some of his posts. Please allow me to add my condolence and prayers to his family and loved ones as well.

So sorry to hear about Rob,
A real great guy, great spirit and a great sense of humor.
It was my first Sharktoberfest when I met him on a 928 convoy to the event in 06 I believe.
Sorry to find out he's gone.
Best wishes to his family and all those closest to him.

Wow, I knew of the spinal cord injury but not the complications.. very, very sad. I saw him at SF and now I feel terrible for not getting to know him better!
Rest in Peace Rob!

I am greatly saddened by this news. I talked with Rob a few times at SFest, and online. He was really a great guy. I'm not n a position to help much physically with the car, but will do what I can when SFest rolls around. Has anyone set up a means to forward donations?

Greg, I would think that if the car is going to get a new S4 motor, it would probably be best to sell it rather than try to raffle it at SF. Many of the SF people are from CA and would not want to hassle with getting a car with the wrong year motor through the smog patrol. Unless there is an easy to do this???

As long as smog doesn't "know" its a different model year motor, should be no issue. If they do notice, and it gets flagged etc, it should make it through the smog referee check without "too" much trouble since its is AFAIK a complete all the smog parts swap of a newer motor. Referee is always a bit of a roll of the dice, but worst case it looks like fussy detail stuff, nothing major.
It might be useful to have information like the VIN of the donor car the motor comes from, but chances are better than fair the smog guy won't ever notice the year of the motor.
Raffle needs some minimum number of tickets sold to be practical, and to be fully legal could be way too messy. I think we really need a new thread about the car, explaining exactly what it is and how its setup, and discussing what could be done. Rob put a lot into it making it both exceptional, and very fast, and putting in a stock S4 will leave it sort of half and half. Needs a lot of information before real discussion.
