Sorry to hear this. I didn't know about his other problems, a real testament to his spirit. Prayers with the family. If there is a way to help, post it up and I'm in.

Tragic loss. I met Rob in person only once. I had just arrived at GB's shop about an hour earlier after driving the Turquoise Metallic car from the SF Bay area. It was the first time I had driven the car since purchasing it. Rob was having his car loaded up on a trailer. He introduced himself and we began chatting about what great cars 928's were. I was a total noob. He explained how easily a 928 could be converted from a great autobahn car to an overall super car with Greg's help. I would be remiss if that conversation was not the seminal point of my 928 mental illness.
A good person. A very fine person with passion for our cars and things that mattered most.
I too would like to know how to contribute towards helping his family.
It is a sad day.

I'm sorry too...
I always enjoyed his posts and our communications.
My heart goes out to his family in this time of loss.
I would like to contribute as well.
May we could pull something together via the 928OC?

Here's a thought about how we might be able to help in a small way: we can help his wife get the most $ possible from the sale of the car and the motor. I think they might be worth more seperate as a GB stroker motor and a clean car with a stock motor. If this is correct we could: 1) put together a fund to help GB finish up the motor and prep it for sale, and 2) purchase a stock motor from Mark and install it at Sharktoberfest. Of course we can always just put together a fund for his wife, too.

I agree Karl's idea makes the most financial sense in terms of generating the most $$$ for the family.
Sale of the engine could help offset Greg's efforts to finish the Stroker and install the stock engine. The balance then goes to the family.

It occurred to me that it might be best to sell the engine separate from the car. The car is completely set-up to accept a later engine (that was what was in it). It is a very, very nice car and someone will get a hell of a car....with or without an engine.
The engine itself is ready to assemble and will be completely fresh. I might know of someone who wants the stroker....need to make a call.
Rob was going to supposed to update my web sites (trading labor), but that is obviously never going to happen. I need to check with Mary, but I think he had paid for most of the parts.
At any rate, it doesn't matter....his family will never see a bill for this, from me....nor would I consider taking any portion of any money that we might raise, for his family. Not my style.
Rob was super concerned about loosing his house, over the medical bills. I have no idea what kind of health insurance he had...or where you might get insurance...when you have a spinal cord injury. No idea if he had life insurance..or if you can get life insurance when you have a spinal cord injury. We talked briefly about his hospital bills, when we talked about the car, but he would never complain, so I don't know the details. (A few weeks before he passed, he asked me to dispose of the car and mentioned that this was his last remaining asset, before the house and that he needed the money to pay medical bills.)
I need to talk to Cathy (his wife) about a couple of things. I'll see what information I can gently gather. When I talked to her on Thursday, she was doing pretty good, but it was also pretty tearful, at times. I'm sure me being on the other end of the phone didn't help...
Rob was a "world class" human being...and she has to be devastated. Without the use of his legs, he was half the physical human being I am...and yet was twice the person I ever could be.
