Maybe the next Gurney or Granatelli in the making? Helluva a school you're running there, Greg. What's the boy doing next summer... maybe some NorCal, surf chicks, more old 928's?

Love all the info. Maybe see if your camera has a macro setting. If its a cannon its the setting that looks like a tulip.

Truthfully, my son is the "anti gearhead". He can't drive a stick, mind you. I'm thrilled that he has dug in here and is working on this car...it is a first. He's gone to not knowing what anything is to cussing at the A/C compressor when he hits his head on it, walking under the car.

I don't want him to be a mechanic...but I'd like him to be able to add his own oil.

It's a Sony...and has the tulip. Macro is about 12 inches...

Funny story there. My son's computer runs Windows 7. The camera is 2003 vintage. Windows 7 can't download this camera....no driver. Sony doesn't have the driver either. How crazy is that? You can't recover data from a 7 year old device on a current computer!

About time for a Mac.

The half life of most electronic gizmos is about a year.....so a seven year old is a lot like a 27 year old 928

Canon did the same thing with the optura video camera.
It worked with XP.
But I upgraded to get more memory to a new computer with Vista.
Everybody blamed Vista. But it was Canon that decided not to write the interface, forcing obsolescence.

So we went to a MAC for this and other Vista reasons.

Its great.

Except Canon decided not to write the optura interface for MAC, either.

Says the guy with a 5 axis machine, as big as my house, that probably can't move anything, unless the computer is turned on....

Doh!

On the camera-
You may wish to try downloading the XP version of that driver. It *may* work. It also probably won't, but don't take no for an answer in computers the very first time.
